chapter one

Eren's POV

It is my birthday today and I don't think Jean remembers. Me and Jean have been dating for about 7 months now, we have never kissed, and I don't think I can stay with him much longer. He is very abusive and mean to me. He makes me cry on the daily. Mikasa and Armin have been really busy with work so when I woke up they called me and wished me a happy birthday and that we would go out to dinner on the weekend. It's a wednesday. Right now I am on my way to Captain Levi's office, where I spend most of my time. I'm his assistant.

"Good morning Levi!" I said with a big smile on my face as I walked into the room.

" morning, hey happy birthday Eren. " Levi's words made my smile bigger.

"I got you a little gift." He said with a strait face and no emotion at all.

" thanks Levi! " I say very happily. I open the little box and pull it a keychain with the wings of freedom on them.

"Oh Levi I love it. Thank you so much!" Levi replied with a ' mm-hmm' as I out of back in its box and put it in my bag.

My phone started ringing and before leaving the room I apologize to Levi. Jean was video-chatting me.

" Hey Jean. " i said, happy to talk to his boyfriend.
"Hey Eren I need some money, me and Marco are going out for drinks." Eren, who was very disappointed at what he just heard, sighed and replied.
"how much do you need?"
" I don't know but over $100" Jean said. " where are you going that you need over $100!? " i said a little loud.
"We are going to a strip club because this hot guy works there and Jean wants to make a move on him!" Marco laughed in the background, he sounded like he was drunk.
" W-what? " I said softly.
"Whatever 'Eren' I guess I will get the money from someone else." Jean said in a ride way. I was speechless, mouth slightly open, fight the urge to break down and start bawling his eyes out. A tear went streaming down his face.
" why are you crying?? Ugh why am I dating such a whimp? " Jean said before hanging up.
I stood there for a moment before walking back inside. Levi, since it was on video call, had heard the whole thing and say there in silence. As I walked in Levi was sitting at his desk writing notes.

Levi's POV

I felt so bad, but I knew that Eren would cheer up in a little bit. There is a reason why everyone is 'really busy with work' on his birthday. They were planning a party for him. As soon as Eren walked in the room he grabbed his things off his chair and say down.
"Eren..." I say.
" oh my goodness did you hear that? " now there were more tears coming from Eren. I sighed and nodded my head.
"S-so you w-will unders-stand if I went to the b-bathroom really quick?" Choking on his words and trying to hide his sobs, Eren got up and left after I told him it was absolutely fine. As soon as he left I called Erwin. 'Everyone else is planning the party so I can get him and Armin to come down here.' I thought to myself.
