Going back to school on Monday is a challenge for me.
After the kiss on Friday, Becca could literally not stop asking where I was at, if I had feelings for Jonathan and if she should arrange a date for him and me.
A) That is absolutely and completely weird because, I mean I can arrange my own dates, thank you very much, and B) I am so confused. It was just a kiss, but it couldn't help but feel special in the moment, so I have no idea myself.
I really do love it when my friends make my decisions and tell me how I feel romantically because I totally need them to sort out my life.....
As I park my bike in the parking lots at school, Emily approaches me. "So, Friday, huh."
I look at her in a confused way and tell her that I don't know what she is talking about, but she continues to speak.
"Jonathan and you... Wish I didn't give you my ticket. That could've been me." She chuckles
I force a smile and say, "Look, why are you making such a big deal about this? It was a game and I don't know why you are analysing my behaviour instead of all the other 39 peoples' behaviours that were there with me?"
Emily roles her eyes and nods her head. "You've been closed up and basically anti-social since you ended it with Jake, so it was strange to see you making out with Jonathan, you know?"
I start walking to the school building, distancing myself from Emily but she is still following me.
"Ok, I have a class to get to, so it would be really sweet of you if you could just move aside and let me be."
Emily starts giggling, "Okay, fine."
I smile at her and get to class.
School ends pretty quickly, but I am loaded with homework by the end of the day. I want to hit the mall with Becca and Juan for a milkshake and some shopping but I don't know if I can manage.
"Please," Becca pleads at me, and Juan starts throwing reasons at me why I would be missing out if I didn't come.
"You are not gonna be on the cute insta-stories which means you're a nerd for eternity. Plus, you wanted to buy a new highlighter. A champagne colour to make your collarbones pop?!! Ohh, and a cute playsuit for the spring since it's getting quite hot, am I right?"
At the highlighter bit he got me. "Okay, I know that I do need a couple of bits but I need to set priorities." I say to wind them both up.
"...and I am my priority." They both role their eyes, thinking that it'll just be the two of them then.
"So that is why I will join the two of you. Friends before anything else."
They seem happy, so we head into town by bike. Once we get to our favourite café in the whole wide world, I feel at peace. It feels good to not be worrying about the kiss with Jonathan and my mixed feelings. I can finally just sit down and spend some time with my friends.
"Welcome to The Smoothie Groovy" The waiter says.
I order my usual: A raspberry yoghurt smoothie with mango bits. Then we sit down. As usual, Becca pulls out her phone and starts scrolling through her messages while Juan and I actually have a 'normal' conversation.
We are getting into conversations about parties, but I am happy that Juan doesn't bring up Jonathan. He understands where to draw the line.
"Speaking of parties," Becca exclaims.
"The school just sent out an email to all junior students, saying that they are hosting a Sunset Dance."
I feel excitement rise in my chest. Without saying anything else, I ask, "When, where and the theme?!"
"Friday in a week, in the Flower Garden near town and the theme is floral."
