Waking up, I found myself on a park bench. I sat up, yawning tiredly. I looked around and noticed it was daylight, meaning it had to be past six. Well crap. My friends are probably worried sick. Standing up, I began to walk back to the abandoned house with a somewhat quick pace.
I really hope we don't do another 'let's-pick-a-completely-random-game-and-do-it' kind of thing. The game from last night scared me so badly I thought I was gonna shit myself. If the next game is something even higher on the scariest games list, then I ain't doing it. Sorry.
I continued thinking in this manner until I reached the house and opened the door, knowing it must've been unlocked. I know this because if my friends weren't inside the building at this time, then that means that they didn't care about me enough to stay inside. As I opened the door, Callie looked up from the evil spellbook. Smiling softly at me, she turned around to call to the others. "Guys! Hailey's back!"
After like ten seconds, everyone was in the room and hugging me tightly in a group hug like fashion. I chuckled nervously, trying to hug them all back. Pulling away from them, Cora spoke instantly. "W-Where were you? W-we got h-here to find th-that no o-one was home, s-so we all th-thought you b-broke the rules o-or something, so w-we were a-about to call the c-cops," she told me anxiously. Well thank god I got back in time. Really don't wanna bother the police when in reality I just slept on a fucking park bench. That would've been embarrassing.
Turning away and picking the book up, Callie, held the book now, turning back towards me. "We've decided on the next game," she told me quietly. Without me? Jesus christ, y'all. She shifted the way she held the book so that it was facing me. Reading the title, I saw that it was called Deadman's Tag. Well, that sounds just peachy. But I don't recognize it. Besides, it's just tag. How hard could it be?
I looked at Callie curiously. "What's this game about?" I asked curiously.
"As you could probably guess from the title, it's playing tag with dead people, pretty much," she replied calmly. "In order to play, we'll need a playing field, preferably one that's large and outdoors. Then we each need a flashlight. Time keeping devices aren't needed, but recommended," she continued, Robin getting up. "I'll get flashlights and time keeping devices. I have a lot of those at home anyways," she said, walking out the front door and closing it, probably heading towards her house. I turned my gaze over to Cora. "So what did you guys do without me yesterday?" I asked.
"W-Well, we told a-all our p-parents that we w-were have a c-camping trip, so th-that we could c-continue playing these g-games," she replied. "Then a-after that, we fell a-asleep until s-six. Then w-we came here, a-and you know th-the rest," she finished, as I nodded at her before looking over at Callie. "What're the rules for this game?" I asked, knowing that by now she must've explained it to Robin already. Well, I was hoping that she told Robin already.
"You have to begin shortly before dark on a night with little to no moonlight. Lucky for us, though, it's supposed to be cloudy all day and night, so that bit is done. And even if not, the moon is a waxing crescent moon right now, so there shouldn't be much moonlight at all. Anyways, on the night you've chosen, you with at least two other people should gather at the playing field with their flashlights and their time keeping devices, if you chose to do that. Then you find some kind of physical object, like a tree, that you can physically touch, which will be your home base. Then everyone decides on what amount of time they'll all get to hide. Then, once it's fully dark, everyone participating must gather at home base and face away from it. Then one person calls into the darkness a certain quote which will be said later, as it requires the name of your home base and your time limit to hide. Then after that part is said, everyone calls out 'You're it!' in unison. Then everyone has to immediately run, scatter, and hide. You can use a time keeping device to keep track of how much time you have left, but if not, then estimate how much time you have left with any method," she stated. Man, this game seems complicated, but I'm not risking on missing out on any of the rules.
