The monitor isn't detecting a pulse.
"NURSE! DOCTOR! ANYONE!"
I panic.
My heartbeat drums in my ears.
My palms are clammy.
My head is pounding.
The room is spinning.
I feel like vomiting.
This can't be real.
Right?
"Yes, sir?"
"Her heartbeat! It's not showing up!"
He quickly jots notes onto his clipboard.
"Sir, I'm afraid you have to leave the room."
"What!?"
"It's for her safety."
"No! That's my girlfriend right there! I can't let her die!"
"Please sir, you must leave the room. She's already gone."
He pushes me into the hall.
I seethe in anger at the doctor who has closed the door.
I can't believe this.
I was afraid of her leaving me.
Leaving me for someone else.
Leaving me alone.
Leaving.
But what about her?
All her relationships?
Was I being selfish?
"I'm sorry I can't save you, Y/N."
The words flow out of my mouth.
Maybe she catches them.
