Today is a Saturday,well in most Nigerian homes, Saturdays were meant for cleaning, partying etc. Strange was coming to our house,yep I call him Strange because I hadn't met him before. His name was Adekunle Adeoti,he is mechanical engineer working in a renowned company in the US. He was 6 feet tall,dark in complexion,he had deep green eyes that I think I might like. Enough of him joor.
I was asked to dress in the traditional Yoruba attire,I knew this was a bad plan from the start. I never really liked native attires except during outings. I dressed up, not looking to much for the meeting and all.
The kitchen was already giving the house it aroma of delicious Nigerian native foods.
"11:30am!! they are not still here"i said in anger and went up to my room to sleep. I thought the meeting won't hold again. I slept off with a split second. I heard a voice scream my name from downstairs,"Toni!!!,they are here oo,come down quickly",I thought I was still dreaming until I heard a big bang on my room's door,"Oh!!!!,it's not a dream jare",I said and stood up from my bed.
I got downstairs and saw everyone at the dining table eating,I didn't see a figure like Mr Strange,all i saw was and elderly aged couple apart from my parents already eating and talking happily. "How cliche" I muttered to myself. I greeted the elderly aged couple in our Nigerian Yoruba style. I seem to like their behavior especially the wife. She spoke to me well and we kinda got along well.
Just then Mr Strange came in all in a black tapered suit that fits his body well. "Who wears suit to a Nigerian marriage proposal?,Akata gidi gan leleyi oo abi o form ni (This is a real English man or he's just forming fresh dude),". I muttered to myself. "Adekunle, come over here and greet our beautiful Toni", his mother said,I looked at her and simlied sheepishly. He came closer and said "Hi" like I was some pet. "Toni, won't you show Kunle to your room so you too can talk better?",Mom said.
I was flushed with annoyance,"like seriously mum?".
