As the cold wind hit Jesse Mccree's face, he realized he'd made a mistake.
He'd went to the so-called 'haunted' forest that his friends had encouraged him to enter, that he had let himself be pressured into doing, even though he was slightly fearful of ghosts already.
His friends, Hana, Lucio and Genji, had offered to come with him. No big deal, right? They'd be okay, and this whole time he'd thought that and gotten away with it, until this very moment. Said friends had all scattered and gotten lost as they'd heard a loud twig snap, and Jesse had soon after realized it was simply a fat raccoon who'd simply been startled by their flashlights.
Well, he still continued on his way, calling out their names as he did so, staying relatively calm. It was still okay; The others were just in a different area right now, they'd be reunited later, no big deal.Until he started hearing strange noises. He could only categorize them as generally the same, half and half: some sort of occasional laughter, and a constant but quiet crackling noise, which seemed oddly consistant with a fireplace.
He spun around frequently, seeing as he was alone and the further he got the more intense the crackling got, the closer the laughter felt. He started walking faster and faster until he was running, tearing through the forest and trying to get away from the laughing in his ear, seemingly mocking him, and in his state of panic he'd dropped anything in his hands. He didn't remember when, but he'd dropped his flashlight at some point.
After about 15 minutes of running he reached a clearing, open and with no leaves blocking the moon's light. He lumbered to the middle, near exhausted, mentally noting that he needed to exercise more. It was painfully quiet now, as a breeze caressed his cheek, and he felt unsafe, almost like whatever had been chasing him was ready to really pounce now.
A shape appeared in the corner of his eye, just for a second, and he quickly turned to face it. There was nothing there. He sighed, and crouched to rest a little and catch his breath.
Minutes later, A light caught his eye through the trees on the opposite side of where he'd come from. He called out his friends' names, fearful of what might happen if it wasn't them.
This time, they called back. "Jesse!!"They jogged to him, and he stood up again, still breathing heavily.
"You'll never believe-"
Jesse cut them off.
"I just got chased by a ghost. He was laughin' in my ear and everythin'." He grumbled.
Hana piped in.
"We did, too! Were there pop rocks sounds?"
Jesse frowned. "More like a fireplace cracklin', but yeah, I heard it."
She seemed pleased. "Yep. He must've died in a fire or something!"
Jesse sighed. "Makes sense. I just don't wanna be here to face his wrath, now, so can we hit the road maybe?"
Hana looked around and let out a faint 'hmmm'. "Yeah, I think the parking lot's... This way." She skipped off in some random direction and the 2 other friends, Lucio and Genji, just shrugged and followed her.
Mccree stood there for a second before taking off as well, but not after seeing another shape in the corner of his eye, which also dissipated as he looked. He was looking forward to going home and to sleep.

This chapter is a bit short, and a lot cliffhanger-ish, but don't worry because I wanna continue it a lot.
I'm trash at ending things lmaooAlso, you're probably wondering what the heck's going on.
Junkrat is the spirit, there will be more of him later wink wink, and it's not gonna be a bad relationship (I.e. love me or I'll haunt u forever) but he will jokingly make hollow threats, like 'do that one more time and ill curse your grandchildren' or 'do you really want me to possess you rn' type of stuff lmao
