Jesse rubbed a hand through his hair in frustration at his friends' antics.
He got up, folded his blanket and put his chip bag away.

As he was walking to the kitchen, he saw the shape again, in the corner of his eye. This time, he whipped his head towards it, frightened.
"Hello? Is anyone-"

A knocking on the door interrupted him. He nearly whimpered.

He walked with heavy feet to his own doorway, and opened it. There were his friends; Hana in the front, holding an unopened ouija board.

"Let us in, we have a ritual to perform!" Hana practically sung.
Jesse just walked away from the door, sitting down on his couch and crossing his arms.

"The ouija board is pushing the limits already. No rituals, y'all, I'm serious about this." He grumbled. Lucio chuckled. "Aww, dude, are you scared of ghosts?"

Jesse groaned. "We've been over this already. I just wanna be safe."

Hana sat down next to the cowboy and handed her Ouija board to Genji. Genji looked at it for a moment before opening it and sitting down on the floor.
"So how do we use this thing?"

Hana shrugged. "I'm assuming we just put our fingers on the thing and ask it a question? I never researched it." Lucio gasped, sitting down next to Genji.
"Hana, what if it DOES get mad? You know, cuz we never really took the time to learn how to do it respectfully? What if we offend it in some way?" He rambled, watching Genji set it up.
Genji looked up at him as he talked, and his eyes widened. "I'm the one setting the board up, Lucio!! What if it comes after me?! Stop saying stuff like that!" He reached over and punched the other.

Lucio chuckled. "Are you done, dude? There's only, like, 2 pieces." Genji sighed. "Yeah..."

Hana and Jesse moved down from the couch to sit with the others, making a circle.

Hana put her hand on the middle piece first, Genji and Lucio following. Jesse reluctantly reached for it.

"Aw, Jesse, if you don't wanna do this, you don't have to-" Lucio began.
"-Unless you're a total loser!" Hana cut in, getting an eye roll from him.

Jesse looked her dead in the eyes, and touched the piece. "Who's askin' the questions?"

Hana smiled. "Me, because I want to more than all of you."

Jesse sighed. "Then ask it somethin'."

She thought of a question for a moment. "Oh, forest spirit, who's come to haunt my dearest companion, Jesse. What be thou name?"

Nothing happened. Genji became tense, waiting for the piece to move.

About 15 seconds passed before she got impatient. "Do ye be of demon, or of ghost?"

Silence. Hana groaned and looked at Jesse. "Ghosts suck. They're so boring."

Jesse smacked her shoulder with his free hand. "Don't say that! What if he just doesn't feel like answerin'?"
Hana stuck her tongue out.
Genji intervened. "Wait, 'He'? How do you know it's a 'he'?!"
Jesse groaned. "I just assumed, okay! Wishful thinking. All the girl ghosts are terrifying."
"What girl ghosts? You've never met a girl ghost! You don't know that!" Hana cut back in.
"The ones in the movies! You know, the ones that bleed out their eyes and crawl up on the ceilin'!"
"Oh. Yeah, they are scary..." Hana agreed.

They went quiet. Everyone looked down and noticed the piece had moved to 'yes'.

The cowboy felt himself start to sweat, fear twisting his gut.

"Uh.. Yes? What does that mean? Yes to girl ghosts being scary, or...?"

The piece circled 'yes'.

Genji pulled his hand away, yelling in surprise. Lucio gasped.

"Okay, uh.. Now that you're responding, are there any other ghosts I should worry about?"

The piece moved to 'no' in a swift movement. Not agonizingly slow like it did in those YouTube videos of Ouija boards in graveyards at 3AM. There was no suspense.

Lucio looked at Hana. "You're doing this, I can tell. Stop it." He said, trying to mask his fear.

Hana took her hand off the piece and raised it. "Nope, I swear I'm not!"

"Are you here to kill us? Do you wish us harm?" Mccree asked quickly.

The piece moved to 'no'.

Lucio blurted out, "Are you dangerous?"

Nothing happened.

Jesse squeaked. "Are you? Answer the question!"
The piece moved to 'yes', slowly and like it was hesitant to answer.

Lucio pulled his hand away and backed away. Genji did, too, and Hana followed what the others were doing.

"You, uh, you could kill me? Is that how dangerous you are?" Mccree asked with a shaky voice.

The piece moved to the space between 'yes' and 'no'.

"I... Um..." He looked to the others for guidance, and saw that they'd backed away. He pulled his hand away from the piece, too, to their horror. "You gotta burn it!!" Hana exclaimed loudly. "No, you have to move it to goodbye first!" Lucio added, just as loudly.

Jesse was sweatung buckets. He didn't know what to do. When he turned to look at the ouija board again, the piece had moved itself to 'goodbye'.

They all stared at the piece for a good 45 seconds.

There was now definitive proof Jesse Mccree had a spirit of some kind in his house.

The visiting trio, after 15 minutes of tiny conversation and shocked silence, got up and left, avoiding the ouija board at all costs. Mccree got up, leaving the cursed boardgame on the floor, to go in his room and hide in his blankets from the monsters in his house.

The comfort of his blankets soothed him to sleep, snoring and rolling over once in a while.
