-Eight Years Later-

As I walked through the dense hallway I was assaulted by a scent I had only smelled once, eight long years ago. It was a scent that had long haunted my dreams and memories, the pain of the moment destroying my mind. I stopped in my tracks, the person behind me bumped into me, muttering curses. I waited until the bell rang and ran into the janitor's closet. The janitor never went into the closet during the class periods, he was always hanging around the cafeteria.

Mr. Brundey, my math teacher, knows about my past so whenever I am not in class he tells the other teachers that he is tutoring me so I can stop failing his class. In the janitor's closet is nothing but brooms, mops, and sawdust. I reached around a spare trash can and pulled out my journal. The janitor has never been very observant and even if he was he never does his job so my private stuff is always safe here. I opened my journal to an empty page and pulled out a pencil. I started drawing what I had seen when I was the little girl in my mother's room, hiding from the danger I had not seen coming for my family at the time. My journal is filled with horrific and graphic pictures that would make the toughest guy alive cry. It was filled with the blood and murder that was on my mind for most of my life. Many people have told me I could do nothing, however I never have listened to them.

I remember one striking feature of the man that murdered my mother. His eyes. Even if I had wanted to they were the only think and I could never forget them. They were full of lust as he killed her, his eyes were the never forgiving shade of red. The deepness inside them were frightening and evil. I could, from the moment I first saw him, realize that he was not one that could be easily pleased. He was the kind of man that would murder to get what he wanted and that is just what he did to my family.

I had lost track of the time and jumped when the bell rang for second period. I shoved my journal behind the trash can once again and walked out into the hallway. I went to my locker and switched out my unused English book for my Algebra textbook. As I closed my locker and turned, shuffling in my bag for my pen I didn't notice the person standing in front of me. I bumped lightly into his chest and looked up. I was rather frustrated until I got a good look at him. He didn't shrink away frme like most people did. He stood there staring down at me like he was the one that bumped into me. This must be the new kid. I thought to myself. Many of the girls in the grade have been squealing and gossiping about him. I suppose I know why now, I mean he isn't horrible to look at. His eyes were the outstanding feature. They were either black or really dark green and something I could easily get lost in. I shook my head. I don't have time for this. I have to get to class.

"Excuse me, I have to get to class." My voice rang out and I cringed. I normally try to talk as little as possible but there was no way to get around this guy without saying something. He looked at me as if startled and slowly moved out of my way. I walked calmly away and into math class. The late bell rang as I took my seat and sighed. This was going to be a long day. As Mr. Brundey was explaining linear equations I felt myself going light headed. I couldn't breathe and I started to panic. I stood up quickly and Mr. Brundey looked over. Seeing the look on my face he went pale. He ran down the aisle, but wasn't fast enough to catch me as I fell to the floor, unconsciousness pulling me under in its terrifying grasp.
