Chapter 1

A/N: I'm letting you know now that Emily will not be in this story until later on. Sam imprints on Leah when he phases back for the first time. All characters will not be the same in the actual book. I do not own anything expect the plot and any new characters I add. That's the only time I'll be saying that. Now on with the story.

Chapter 1: What?

Bella

I was awaiting Alice to show up so she could make me try on the dress for the thousandth time. My dad was spending time down at the reservation and seems to be avoiding me at all costs. A knock on the door brings me out of my musings and I open the door. Shocked to see Sam, Leah, Embry, and Paul standing at the door. Well, I should say Sam and Embry were carrying what looked to be an injured Paul.

"Oh my God! Is he alright? Bring him in," I say moving aside so they could carry him in.

None of them answer me and I look at each of their faces. Leah has been crying and she still has tears in her eyes. Sam looked like he aged several years and Embry didn't look like he was doing so good. I ask if any of them could use anything and they all shake their heads while Paul moans.

"What happened?"

"Bells, can you sit please?" Embry asks using Jake's nickname.

I sit on the floor in front of the couch considering Paul was laid on the couch. He puts his hand on my shoulder and I turn to look at him because he hates me. I see the look in his eyes and see that he looks dead inside. He drops something in my lap and I look down. Its a vial of something and I look around.

"Bella, can you just listen to what they have to say?" Paul asks his voice barley a whisper.

I nod and look back at Sam, Embry, and Leah. Embry clears his throat and asks for the vial.

"The vial Paul dropped in your lap is from Old Quil. We need you to take it because Paul's wolf is giving up," Embry says.

"Why is his wolf giving up? What's wrong with you Paul?" I turn to look at him.

"His imprint is getting married to our enemy and his wolf is no longer fighting for her. He knows what's going to happen after the wedding," Leah says.

"His imprint? I didn't know he imprinted. Wait, you said she's marrying a vampire, but I'm...."

I look around and Sam nods his head yes to my silent question. I was Paul Lahotes imprint and I was killing his wolf. I get up and fumble around to get to the kitchen. I need space and with them all staring me down I wasn't sure what to do. Leah follows me to the kitchen and sits across from me.

"Bella, we," she says and I hold my hand up stopping her.

"Why didn't he tell me? When did he?" I look at her.

"Paul, he isn't the one to confess his feelings and he certainly isn't one to open up to anyone," Sam says walking in.

"When?"

"The day he found you in the forest."

"But you found me," I say.

"I carried you to your dad, but Paul is the one who found you. When you opened your eyes he imprinted."

I get up and walk back in the living room looking down at the man laying on my couch. He has his eyes closed, but I can see the tears falling down his face. I turn and ask Embry for the vial. When he hands it to me Sam and Leah come walking back from the kitchen. Paul is watching me and I ask Sam what will happen when I take the vial. He tells me I'll be sent back to the past either right before Edward leaves me or right after Edward leaves me. He tells me I will have a chance to make things right.

"You don't need to do it," Paul says.

"Hush you damn fool! Why you never came to me is beyond me, but I can not let you die!"

I open the vial and take the contents no problem. I go to sit on the floor, but Paul pulls me onto the couch with him. I lay my head on his chest and close my eyes. I say a silent goodbye to the Cullens knowing my life was changing.

"Sleep Swan and when you wake everything will be okay," I hear Paul say.
