Chapter 2

Chapter 2: Now What?

Bella

I awoke to my dad knocking on the door telling me it's time for school. I sit up in a jolt looking around for Paul. I look at the date and see it's the day Edward left me almost three years ago. I sigh and know I'm going to go through the hard times again. I knew I'd have to change my path and knew I'd be okay in the end.

"Coming dad." I call back out and I look through the clothes.

I get dressed and run down the stairs. I managed not to trip on the last step like always and I see my dad standing at the coffee pot.

"Bells?" He looks me over.

"I love you dad," I blurt out.

"I love you too kiddo. Now go before you're late. I'm going to check on Billy and see Harry as well," he says.

"Bye dad!" I call out.

I know today's different because when I get to school everyone ignores me. I'm glad for that and think back on what happened last time. I see Angela and wave her over.

"Hey Bella. Where are the Cullens?" She asks.

"You know, I'm not entirely sure. Edward has been distant since my birthday," I tell her skimming over the fact that Jasper tried killing me.

"What happened?"

"I didn't want the party and kinda threw a fit when we got there," I say.

She nods and we eat our food in silence. The day passes by in a blur. I know what's coming next and I start to panic. I see Paul's face flash in my vision and the way he looked made me realize I could do this. I pull into my driveway and see Edward standing there. I take a deep breath and leave my bag in the truck.

When I get out he asks me to take a walk with him. I nod and we go through everything we already went through. I stupidly follow him and all hell breaks loose. I get lost once again except this time I stay awake. I see a silver wolf and I slowly sit up. I know this is Paul because of the time I slapped him and he phased.

"Paul?" I call out.

His wolf head snaps around and we stare at each other. I know he has imprinted on me as starts moving closer. I hear Sam tell Paul to back down and he looks in Sam's direction.

"Sam, it's okay," I say.

"Bella? Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, just lost and cold. I stupidly followed my ex out here after he broke up with me," I say.

"What?"

"Look, I know you guys are shapeshifters but I can't say more than that right now. Paul, can you change back?" I look at the wolf.

He runs behind some bushes and I can feel a shiver run down my spine. Paul comes walking back out and he glares at me. I look down and I know he hates me.

"What the hell do you mean you know our secrets leech lover," Paul spits out.

"Paul, calm down," Sam says.

"She knows what's going on. We can't let her fucking ruin this. She brings nothing but leeches with her!" He yells.

I stand up and march over to him. I pull all my courage together and smack him across the face like I did when I first found out. He looks at me and we lock eyes. I see all the hatred fade and his eyes fill with an emotion I'm sure hes not familiar with.

"Son of a bitch!" He curses.

"Paul?"

"I fucking imprinted on her! On fucking leech lover of all fucking people. Look get her home safely and I'll run a quick patrol to make sure the leech is gone."

I look up at Sam and shake my head. I tell him to lead the way and slowly follow behind him looking behind me to see Paul phase.

"Sorry, Paul he...he's complicated," Sam says.

"Yeah, well he won't have to worry about it. I think after this I'll be leaving. Maybe go back to see my mom," I say my voice just a whisper.

"Look, don't do anything rash. Let Paul work through this and I'm sure he'll come around. Just wait until then before leaving," he tells me turning around.

"Sam, why should I wait. Its obvious he doesn't like me and doesn't want anything to do with me. I'll go talk to Old Quil and see if there's a way to break the imprint," I say.

I put on a brave face when I see the lights by my house. I run past Sam and right into my dad's arms. He holds me and I look at him with tears running down my face. He asks if I'm okay and I nod. He tells me that he was worried when he got home to see a note from me and I wasn't anywhere to be found. I see Jared and Leah standing there looking at me. I know before I was brought back to the past that my dad and Sue were just starting to date. My dad leads me inside and tells everyone thanks.

Paul

I couldn't believe fate decided to pair me up with leech lover. I leave her with Sam and run off towards the boarder. I followed the leeches scent and it lead away from Washington. I head back just as Sam phases in.

"Any news Paul?"

"No Sam. The leech left Washington and I'm heading home. I'll see you tomorrow morning for patrol."

He replays the conversation with leech lover in his mind. I cringe when she says she'll leave. I wince when she says she'll talk to Old Quil to see if there's a way to break the imprint.

"You need to pull your head out of your ass."

"Why should I? We all know when and if the leech shows back up she'll run right into his arms. I would rather for than be tied to her for the rest of my damn life."

I phase out before he says anything else. I can't stand the thought of being tied to someone who loves a damn fucking leech. When I get to my house I hear the phone ringing. I grab it off the cradle and answer it.

"Listen here Lahote. You're going to give Swan a damn chance. She has been through enough and you will end up killing yourself," Leah says on the other end of the phone.

"Listen here Clearwater. You're not my boss and I don't have to listen to you. If I kill myself then so be it. I'd rather die than have to be stuck with her."

"Just because you think everyone's had it easy they haven't. Damn it Lahote she's my dad's best friends daughter and if you don't accept her into the your life it won't stop Sam, Jared, Kim and I from doing it."

I hang the phone up with a smash and punch holes in my wall. I couldn't believe what fate has set in store for me.
