George :

"Pierdolić!" Robert shouted from the other side of the lab, making George jump.

""Are you okay?" The Brit asked with a frown.

"Fine fine. I just broke the compound. It was the only one we have. Now I'll have to make a report and wait for weeks until they agree to pay for another one." He seethed.

"You should tell Claire now. The sooner she knows the sooner you get the piece."
George said, biting his lower lip absentmindedly.

"Yeah I'm going." Robert sighed, standing up. "How is yours going?"

"Fine I guess. I'd like to have more precise tools but it has to be enough." He answered with a shrug.

Robert nodded and left the lab.

George leaned forward and started working again on the new microphone concept he and Robert were working on. The idea was to make it smaller and almost invisible for the next infiltration missions.

But the team was struggling. They didn't have a lot of money. The advances were slow. It took ages to get the good compound when one broke or when it just didn't work. The team had been struggling since Massa left. He was a genius in electronic research. He'd created many weapons and tools still used in missions.

His departure had been the beginning of the end. Lance and Sergey had no experience, nor did he. Robert was different. He used to be good. But his hand injury was stopping him for using his full potential. And he'd been away for so long he needed some time to get back in track.

While they seemed to be working for nothings, the other teams had been in several missions during the last 2 weeks.

It was the start of the new "best agent" campaign. The game was simple. By accomplishing dangerous and difficult missions, each agent won points. Those points were used to see the level of each of them. And at the end of the year, the team bosses and employees voted for who they thought were the best agents. The final ranking didn't have that much importance overall. But it was a question of ego. They all wanted to be elected, at least once in their career.

For now, Valtteri had the most points. He'd saved a mission by driving perfectly and saving everyone. He deserved all those points. Hamilton had a few points less. He'd succeed a mission too but it wasn't as difficult as Valtteri's and he'd almost crashed the car.

Max had done well, defusing a bomb placed under the British parliament, just in time. But Pierre didn't even go on a mission. Red Bull chose to train him some more. So he didn't got any points.

The Ferrari teammates had had some issues. Sebastian's gun failed and he and Charles almost fought in the middle of the mission.

Then, Kevin managed to ensure communication with the Ferrari team during the heist and got some points for his excellent work. On the other side, Romain's system failed him, exactly like it did the year before. It had been the team's fault.

Hulk was still in infiltration in a network dealing drugs. He was about to catch their head. He was supposed to work with Daniel but the Aussie twisted his ankle and had to go back to HQ before the end of the mission.

Kimi had hacked inside the network's computers and had been able to collect all the data required to prosecute them. Antonio hadn't been allowed to take part in a mission on his own. So he'd helped Kimi. But it wasn't enough to get him any points.

At the police station, Lando had made a few friends and was now feeling at ease with the other policemen. McLaren knew he would be useful during the year. But his teammate caught the flu. He was burning with fever and could barely walk. He'd been dismissed for the week.

For his first mission with Force India, Lance had beaten Sergio. George was happy for him. He was almost like family. They'd both started with Williams. And it was good seeing him win some points for his investigation on the mole that had ruined their first mission.

Daniil and Albon had done a good job too. Daniil had been quite efficient, treating Carlos and Daniel. Alexander had helped but he didn't have the confidence to do it alone yet. It would come with time because they had the tools and Daniil was used to working under pressure.

Robert entered the room again, slamming the door loudly behind him.

"Everything okay?" George asked.

"Yeah. It'll just take a few months to get a new piece." Robert answered with a false smile.

"Months?!" George exclaimed. "But we need it before!"

"I know that's what I told Claire. But apparently they can't control it, it's not their fault, they're already trying their best." He answered sarcastically.

George sighed. In the corner of his eye, he saw Robert collapsing in his chair. He knew the Polish was grateful for the team, for hiring him despite his injury. But it didn't make the difficulties easier to face.

It definitely wasn't how George had expected his career in the F1 group to start.

It felt weird to be among the worse agents while he'd been the best only last year in the F2 group.

Luckily, his family was supporting him. He was hopeful for the future. He knew one way or another, he'd get to the top and become the agent he'd always dreamt of being when he was a child. It would just take more work than he thought it would when he was hired in the F1 group.

He would get what he wanted. He only had to work hard and seize every opportunity of getting better.
