---"It's Thanksgiving break, bitches!" Avi screams loudly, adding a few whoops afterward just to add to the moment. A woman walking past with her two young kids glares at him and picks up some speed. Avi flashes an embarrassed grin, turning to me and speaking much quieter. "Its break, bitches."
I laugh, throwing an arm around his shoulders. "Have any fun plans for the break?"
"To make sure school never crosses my mind from this point forward." Avi was a senior this year and he really couldn't care about school any less right now. Of course, he was always like that. Even when Avi was a good student, he was a student that didn't care.
"Honestly, me too."
"I take that to mean your grades are good enough for Connie to be giving you a break?"
I nod. Since I'm homeschooled I don't have to have holiday breaks or vacations. Mom's rule is that if my grades are good I get the break. "My grades are fucking excellent. I told you they would be."
"I never doubted you, Scotland."
I roll my eyes at the nickname but smile anyway. "Hey, I have some news you might care about, Av."
Curious green eyes turn towards me. "I'm listening."
"I asked Mark if he wanted to come out and hang out with us." Mark hasn't met any of my friends yet, except for the five seconds in the store with Mitch, so I feel I have the right to be nervous. He's amazing so I really don't know how any of them couldn't like him. Plus, I've met Mark's friends already and that went great. I don't see how this couldn't go just as well.
Avi grins, clapping me on the back. "Well, I'm excited to meet him. I haven't seen you this hung up over someone before. Just know that if he ever hurts you I will have to kill him."
"Okay, none of that. I don't want you to scare him off."
"I'll be on my best behavior. Scouts honor."
I chuckle right as Matt and Mitch walk over to us, chatting and laughing about something that Avi and I are unaware of. Matt waves at me and I give him a small wave back, while Mitch smiles over at me. Avi nudges me. I guess it's time for them to know as well.
"Hey, guys, I have a small announcement."
"We get to meet Scott's crush!"
I roll my eyes at Avi. "Well, okay, yeah. Mark is coming over because he wants to meet you and I owe you guys an explanation to why I'm barely here anymore."
Matt shakes his head. "No, you don't. You're allowed to have friends outside of our little group, Scott. I can't wait to meet him."
"Yeah, Matt is right. It's okay that you don't hang out with us all the time as long as you're here sometimes. You know that I'm needy."
I chuckle, wrapping my arms around Mitch's slender frame. "And if you ever need me I'm only a phone call away. You know I'd drop anything for you. All of you."
Avi claps me on the back again. "We know that, Scotland. Now, where is your boy going to get here? I can't wait to meet the boy that's managed to drive you crazy for weeks."
Rolling my eyes, I pull away from Mitch but keep my arm slung over his shoulders. "Shut up, Av. And he should be here soon."
"Don't do anything too stupid, Avi," Mitch says with a small squint in his eyes. "I know it will be hard for you."
