Not bothering for a proper announcement, I burst into the lobby doors of Harper Enterprises with my men on my heels. As I suspected, a beefy security guard approached me popping off demands. "Stop. You can't go any further without permission" .

Trying to remain calm, I spoke in a deadly tone. "Trust me, today's not the day. I believe the Harper's will be expecting me."

Avoiding any further conversation I stepped off into the secret door that led to the Den. The place was a train wreck compared to it's normal grand look. Who ever hit them, hit then hard but that wasn't my concern. My only concern was showing the proof they longed to see and making sure I and my son left here with our heads still attached. Not that I fear the Harper's, I'm just as strong and deadly as well as prepared. Currently I have men surrounding this city in case thing's were to go bad and my wife Avery as well as my daughter are well hidden and protected in a discreet location.

The scent of death still clung to the air as I entered the Den. It didn't take me long to spot that callous son of a bitch. Within two strides I reached him. Not bothering with any formalities I growled. "Where the fuck is my son?"

Stomping the remainder of his cigarette out into the stained floor he booked back. "Calm your shit down. The fuck you think you are bouncing up in here like a Billy badass, especially when you may have betrayed us". He accused.

Taking the folder, I shoved it into his chest. "The proof is in here. Let's get this going so I can collect my son and be gone but let me tell you this first. You have royally fucked up this time. Since your parent's death you have questioned my loyalty but no more. As of right now I'm removing my alliance's from your family. Never will there be any more deals or aid from me".

As I suspected, Demarco came toward me ready for a fight but a strong hand pulled him back. Who I saw next nearly sent me into a tale spin. "What kind of game are you playing?" I questioned in utter disbelief.

London then stepped up to me. "I was never killed. I've been held hostage this entire time by my own traitorous men, Marcus and Jax. However I am aware that they worked along side of you. You can understand why we would think that you are involved" .

Brushing my shock off at seeing London alive, I shook my head. "Yes, I do but by now the Harper's should know I'd never sell them out. I urge you to look at the notorized  contract between I and your men. Also there is a video of the day I signed the paper's as well as a discussion as to why the families needed to merge. The Marittia's are innocent" . I assured them.

Demarco jerked the paper's from my hand and growled as he looked them over. "Let's see the video".

Within moments we were all wrapped around the conference room table and peering at the t.v. Screen. Just as I had told them they saw that I was setup as well. Demarco, the snide bastard he is didn't offer an apology as his father did but ordered his men to release my son. It wasn't long before my son was escorted into the room. My first instinct was to check him over with my eye's to ensure that he hadn't been harmed. Once satisfied with his condition, I glared at Demarco. "This situation has been very insulting to me as well as my family. After many year's of loyalty, I know where I stand with the Harper's. As of now I will no longer offer any help or deals. No, we aren't enemies but we aren't friends either". Pausing I looked at London.

" however I'm glad to see that you are well and I wish you luck on figuring this out". Turning on my heel, I beckoned Aiden to follow.

As we were making our way out of the door in rushed Mizery blocking our path. "Aiden please. We need to talk".

My son seemed angry as he spoke. "I think you've said enough and I stand by what I said. I'm finished here".

" You don't mean that Aiden". Mizery insisted.

"Mizery, enough. Let them be on their way". Demarco ordered.

" Can we have a moment alone". Mizery shouted to the room.

"That's not necessary. There's nothing left to say except for goodbye". Aiden snarled.

Sensing that Mizery wasn't going to give in I spoke up. "We must be on our way now. Aiden has said his peace and wishes for no more contact. I entrust that the Harper's will see that his wishes are met".

" Aiden, please". Mizery said in a weak voice.

Brushing by her, Aiden left the room without a second glance. Hopefully it will remain that way. The girl was nothing but trouble and would eventually be a problem more so than she already is. I was aware that she Mizery suffered from some form of condition but I wasn't quite sure exactly what. Whatever it is, Aiden needs no part of it. Normally I would never interfere with my son's love life but now it was for the best. My heart told me that Mizery would bring him exactly that.... Misery. I was a fool to ever accept an marriage proposal between these two just to merge the families. Never again would I compromise my children in such a way.

Most of the flight back home was in silence and I figured Aiden needed it. I wasn't sure what went down between Aiden and Mizery but it couldn't have been good. Deciding that talking to him about it was being too nosy, I chose to remain quiet. However Aiden surprised me as he sat up straight and cleared his throat. "Dad, do you remember Hazel Tornellia?"

I nodded my head slowly not sure I was going to like where this was going. "Yes, I do".

Hazel.was the daughter of Frances Tornellia, a small time bookie that ran rampant in Vegas but it made him his millions. As older teen's, Aiden and Hazel went out occasionally but nothing serious became of it. At one time we had discussed a possible marriage between the families but nothing came of it. It was all in the name of business. Hazel's marriage to Aiden would ensure him a trustworthy partner, someone familiar with our life and ways. Yes, my own wife Avery wasn't accustomed to this life and it was hard to have her accept it. I just don't want Aiden to go through all of that. Hushing my thoughts, I pegged in on what Aiden was saying. "I'm going to marry her. I'm ready to settle down and I believe she'll make the perfect partner".

"Son, don't rush this. Give yourself time to recover then make a clearer offer". I tried to persuade him.

" No dad, I'm ready. Contact her and see if she's still up for it". Aiden pressed.

"Give it a few day's and if you still feel this way, I'll contact her father". I proclaimed.

Aiden nodded and put his ear buds back into his ears. Christ, I knew that he didn't need Mizery but I'm not exactly Hazel was the answer either. Maybe after a break I can talk some sense into him.
