The Legend of Sir Patrick and Mr Parsons

Chapter 1

This is the story of two heroes: a human knight named Sir Patrick and a chameleon wizard named Mr Parsons. They lived in a kingdom by the name of Wilmslow, which was troubled with an unusual type of pest. You see, ever since the kingdom was first built and the first residents moved in, there had been troubles with their unruly neighbours in the dragon village nearby. The humans kept sending their best knights to slay the dragons, but they would never return.

One day, Sir Patrick and Mr Parsons were summoned to the castle, to see the King. When they arrived, they were escorted to the throne room.

"Ah yes, there you are," greeted the King. "I have a quest for you!"

Patrick already knew the fate that awaited him and his wizard friend; there was only ever one reason why a knight was summoned to the castle nowadays, and it was practically a death sentence. "Yes, your majesty, anything we can do to help you is an honour."

"Of course. My quest for you is this: you will go to the castle in the forest and slay the dragon that guards it. Every knight I have sent thus far has failed, but I have absolute faith in the both of you." The King gave them both a hopeful smile.

Patrick glanced at Mr Parsons, who was sitting on his shoulder looking nervous. "Yes, your majesty, we will slay the dragon for you," gulped Patrick.

"Wonderful!" The King beamed and clapped his hands.
