Patrick and Mr Parsons marched back into the kingdom and straight to the castle. Patrick said to one of the guards, "Fetch the King, tell him to bring everyone to the town square immediately. I have something to say."
"Yes, sir," replied the guard.
With everyone gathered in the square, and the King present, Patrick began his speech. "Hello, everyone. You are probably wondering why you're here. Well, it's because everything you have been told about dragons is a lie." A gasp came from the crowd. "That's right. Dragons are not monsters, nor are they evil. Dragons never attack anyone unless in defence, and we terrorise them every day. When we first built our town here, it was the humans that attacked first, not the dragons. We didn't bother checking if they were peaceful, we just saw that they were different to us and started attacking them. Well I say it's time we put an end to that. I say it is time we made friends with the dragons, and promise never to harm them again. Then we can start anew, as co-habitants of this land that help each other instead of trying to slay them all the time!" A cheer came up from everyone in the crowd. Everyone, that is, except the King.
The King came up to the front of the crowd and exclaimed, "Surely you can't believe this! The dragons have killed countless knights of ours. How are we supposed to believe that the dragons are peaceful when they killed our people?" The King gave a smug smile.
"We tried to kill them first! Mr Parsons and I have been to the dragon village. They did not once breathe fire at us or harm us in any way. They gave us food and taught us about their culture and told us stories. The dragons are just like us, and we need to accept them. I, as a knight, refuse to ever attack a dragon again."
"Right. That's it. Take me to this dragon village and I will show you how evil they are."
