Hey This Is NikkiV Again Just Wanted To Tell You Something Before You Read This Short Story!

This Was One Short Story I Used For My English 1 Class Short Story Assignment! I Just Wanted To Share With You Guys What I Wrote, Because I Just Felt Like It! So If My English Teacher Decides To Look At This Then Okay But It Was NOT AND I MEAN NOT PLAGIARISM Thank You. Now Back To The Story.

The Incident

Yup! That was me and my older brother, just standing there enjoying the clean, blue lake, and breathing in the fresh air. We used to do that all the time when we were young. Now I'm in high school and he is working a full time job to support 'them'. Back then he would constantly say "When I grow up I'm going to be a policeman," that was his dream. He was a bright kid and had his whole life planned ahead. But that was back then, before... the incident.

You want to know my name? Ah, well I guess I can tell you, it doesn't really matter anymore. Well! I'm Emily Matton, 18 years old and a regular Joe fourth year high school student. There, now are we good with the introductions? Good? Good. Okay. Now as I was saying...

If it had not been for that horrible and unchangeable incident I would still be with my brother, and he would be a policeman like he wanted instead of him taking care of 'them'. "Who's them?" you ask? They are my good for nothing cousins who are also in high school but they are first years. Man are they snotty. My brother does everything in his power to give them what they want, need, and what does he get in return? Nothing. Oh I mean except for the dirty looks, bad attitudes, and talking badly about him like how he has no wife, girlfriend, or life. But if you call that something then by all means do what you like. I swear it's like the money itself is taking care of those three instead of my brother. But if he didn't have to support them he would probably have a wife and be living in a nice home. Maybe even have some children. That'd be nice, to have a sister-in-law, and some nieces and nephews.

"Why is he taking care of them?" You want to know? Well it's because my aunt and uncle are divorced. My aunt is sick in the hospital with pneumonia, and my uncle being the jerk he, will not help with anything. That's why my brother is their 'New Guardian'. That had been his life for the past year and a half, working non-stop at a workshop down the street from the apartment he and my cousins live in. I used to live there, but after the incident things changed. "What's the incident I keep talking about?" Well, I guess I should tell you, or anything else I tell you further will not make sense.

The incident I keep mentioning happened almost two years ago. I was on my way home with my brother and his girlfriend in the back seats, my boyfriend Joshua sat in the passenger's seat, and I drove. We had all been enjoying the day, I believe it was a Saturday, we had just finished our typical double date we go on every month.

As I remember it, we had all went to Beach Bistro, we got an open four seat round table outside on the wooden patio, the sun was setting just as we were eating. It was a wonderful dinner. Being next to the beach gave me a sense of calm, and relaxation. It also seemed to ease everyone else's nerves. We ate dinner and Joshua said we should go to the beach. Since we were already here we decided to go. As we headed over to the beach area, I remember feeling my stomach turn, although I just thought it was because of the amount of food we had eaten, so I let it slide. We reached the large beach, the moon reflected on the water, I remember how it all felt at that moment. The wind was so nice and calm the smell of salt water filled the air. There was no one else there which made it a more relaxing.

Josh and I laid on the sand with our sandals off and our feet in the sand as we watched the moon, stars, and the ocean waters together. My brother was on the deck with his girlfriend. We stayed there for about an hour or so, because my brother took out his watch calling out that it was eleven fifty pm. I still couldn't believe that we had lost track of time that much to be out this late. After brother calls out, we hiked up and headed back to the car.

It was about one in the morning and we had just gotten on the Florida Turnpike near Wild-wood. I looked at the mileage marker and saw we had traveled three hundred and four miles total. Looking back to the rear view mirror I saw brother's girlfriend lying on his shoulder sleeping soundly. Brother caught my gaze and gave me a warm smile, I smiled back.

That moment the car starts swinging from side to side. I look back to the car meter for gas and it is rapidly waving from empty to full as if the gas is leaking from the car and more gas is coming in. Brother's girlfriend's eyes opened in fear. The car keeps moving from side to side getting more dangerous with every swing. Josh tries to help get the car under control with his hands on mine trying to keep the wheel in place, but it doesn't work. I look at brother and see he is as fearful as I am right now, squeezing his girlfriend, protecting her.

I look back at Josh and give him a knowing look, he stares at me for a second then realization spreads across his face. Immediately he puts his arms around me protecting me as much as he can for what is bound to happen any second. Next thing I know, the car overturns, screeching, out of control, with no sign of us living through the rest. We land upside down blocking the highway off. Luckily no cars were behind us. I check around to see if anyone was hurt, and lucky enough everyone was okay, just a little scratched up from the broken glass that was now everywhere. Everyone's expression calms down.

Joshua lets go of me knowing I was alright, and starts dialing the number nine-one-one. Not but a second later a horn goes off. Quickly turning my head to see what had made such a loud noise, I find myself staring straight at the beast. A semi truck heading straight at us, the bright lights of the truck in my eyes and the horn still going. All I can remember from that point on is the bright lights, and the sound of the loud horns.

But that all happened a while ago. Oops! looks like I've been talking for too long. I'm late for H.H.S. "What's H.H.S?" You ask? Well, you'll just have to find out when you get your chance to pass through the gates of Heaven, which is really just a long line of people getting checked in by Angels to get up here.

Now What Does H.H.S. Sound Like To You? Guess! Who Ever Gets It The Correct Answer Gets To Get Their Own Short Story Written About Them Or What Ever They Like!
