"Dad?" Marcus asked as he looked at the man in front of him. He hasn't seen nor heard from him ever since he was arrested almost a year ago. His hair was peppered with gray and had a beard, something that he had despised.
"Hi Marcus" Peter greeted his oldest with a chuckle since his son had his mouth practically on the floor. No one knew that Peter was being released because he had wanted it to be a surprise, and boy was it a surprise. He was there; he was going to be there for the birth of both grandkids. Emily and Marcus were happy to know that their father wasn't going to miss out on their child's birth.
"I can't believe you're here daddy" Emily murmured tears freely rolling down her cheeks, happy tears because she had missed her father so much. He had missed baby Peter's birth and had missed her birthday but she didn't hate him for it. It's not like it was his fault that he couldn't make it, it was Aaron's. She wanted to hate him for breaking up her family but she couldn't, no matter how much she wished to, she just couldn't even though she had yelled at him those three words, she didn't hate him, she hated his parents. He was just used by them. They were the ones responsible for the mafia leader to get arrested and sent to jail for a long time but things changed and here he was, standing before his children, each looking different than the last time he saw them which was 10 months ago when he was sentenced to 25 to life in prison for all the crimes he had committed. Peter was proud of his children. So proud that he shed a few tears after seeing them all together.
"It's good to be home" he replied before he pulled them into a bone crashing hug that they returned with watery smiles
"I missed you all so much" he whispered just so they could hear, well at least that's what he had hoped but, Ryder, Elijah and Kennedy heard and just like the Lombardi siblings, they too had watery smiles on their faces after seeing the man they had looked up to for years in front of them again. Ryder admired Peter. He had looked up to him ever since he was a mere 9 year old boy. He had said once that when he was older that he would follow his footsteps, and now here he was, doing just that even though he hasn't started the business he's hoping that he will soon, now that the alpha was there to keep things in order.
"God you've grown so much" Peter said once they pulled back and was holding Emily's son. Little Peter was now 9 months old, his hair had gotten darker over the months, his eyes lighter and was now learning to walk and talk. He's said a couple words but not much. Elijah, Ryder's 3 year old, was always there to play with him. He was always looking out for Peter, because like he had said one day, when his daddy and Emily first got together 'I will protect my baby brother and always play with him' which had Emily crying, but happy tears and Elijah had panicked asking if she had a booboo which only made her chuckle and shake her head, he had looked at her confused but said nothing instead just kissed her cheek and said 'I love you mommy' before going to play with Peter. Little Peter just gurgled in response making the older Peter chuckle before leaning down and kissing his forehead
"You've done great Em, I'm so proud of you" he said with a smile making his only daughter once again tear up
"Thank you daddy, I learned from the best" she replied making her father smile
*~*~*~**~~*~
Two months passed meaning that Emily was already 8 months pregnant and Kennedy was due any day now. He was always in the baby's nursery fixing his little boy's clothes even though there was no need for that, but he didn't care. He was in the baby's nursery when it happened. He was doing what he always did when he first found out that he was having a baby, he would talk and sing to his baby. He felt a sharp pain go through his body making him grip the arm rest on the rocking chair. The pain only lasted 5 minutes before it went away, so he didn't make a big deal out of it, not until the pain returned full force making him hiss in pain, tears rolling down his cheeks.
