Pt. 2

I was heading back when I felt his presence, of course he would come. He thinks I can’t survive by myself. He barely gets by himself, well, we help each other.

He wanted me to run away with him yet, I know he wouldn’t be able to leave his family. But, none of our family members would want to run away.

I pulled out an extra squirrel, hesitation clear in his eyes. I just shoved it into his arms before he refused. He complied, mumbling something along the lines of thanks and so stubborn.

Today was the day where I had to make sure not to die and in order to do that I must kill 10 other people. Ranging from the ages of 15 to 35. I was headed there with the boy next to me, Chase, and others. It was good that the district could keep all their players. Whoever dies well is dead. The winning team no matter how many numbers all get to live.

“Katarina, what have I told you about not waiting for me to come and hunt with you?” He hated it when I went here to hunt without him, and give him some of what I hunt.

“Chase, I was just on edge. No matter what we both must live, okay?” I say in the most strained voice ever. I was on the verge of tears. I hated to feel so weak, it wasn’t what I liked to do I my free time.

“Yes, remember we have a game plan. No matter what we must follow that. Come on lets go get ready their coming soon, and we must look H-O-T-T!” He sang the end to my complete horror, you never wanted to hear him fake sing. He truly has an amazing voice, not to sound arrogant but I do too. We sometimes put on shows for the district; we would get all the kids and do performances.

I quickly ran up to the gates after shooting Chase a confusing expression.

He never learns. I think shaking my head in disapproval, when Chase realized what happened.

“How do I always fall for that?” He shouted to the sky. I just cracked up laughing. Once I calmed down I retorted with; “Talking to yourself, again? What would your mother say?” I said in mock disapproval. I knew I just set off a ticking time bomb, so I sped up on the running. Quickly darting under the fence I ran right into my house to get cleaned up before the people of the council showed up.

After I had cleaned up, I looked in the tall mirror looking at myself. I had a Blood red dress falling to my knees, at the bust it had a black bow, Black and silver ballet flats and a silver heart necklace. Yes, I had money but nobody knew of that except of my family. And it wasn’t like we needed it. It can only be used in Harriton. And I did not live there… anymore.
