Chapter One

THE FAMILY

THE INSIDE OF the mansion isn't as scary looking as it is outside. Six of the seven sat comfortably at the living room, eyes darting to all directions. The man, who introduced himself as their late father, has excused himself earlier to get something for them to eat. Not very much like what they knew of him.

"This is weird." Allison, again, is the first to speak. She speaks a lot now that her wound is gone and her voice is back. All credits go to the complexity of time-travel. It healed her.

"Well everything about us has always been weird," Klaus comments picking up a book nearby for him to scan. "Although this is really in the next level of weirdness. I mean, meeting Dad again."

Allison only rolled her eyes. "What about you, Five? What do you think?"

The boy lazily glanced up at the mention of his name, "What about what?"

"He introduced himself as Dad."

"Because he is Dad." Five got up from his seat, eyes looking at her sister ridiculously. "It's the 70s, of course, Dad's going to exist in this time! We all lived the younger version of ourselves." He motioned at their newly yet not really appearance. "What makes him an exception?"

"What I mean is," Allison scanned their surroundings before proceeding and this time with a quieter voice, "Can we trust him? The way he saw us and greeted us earlier, it's strange. He doesn't seem like the man we know he was. What if he's lying?"

"Who on Earth would want to lie about being Reginald Hargreeves? F*ck, who would even want to be him!? Gosh, Allison. You're stressing me out!" An exasperated Klaus half-shouted. "Ugh, I miss my weed."

"But look closely! He knows things that he shouldn't! Like the apocalypse and us time-traveling ourselves in this time. It's like he's been anticipating for this moment."

"Allison, you're talking about the same man who killed himself exactly a week before the world ends," Luther replied. "Which means, he knows when the apocalypse is going to take. Plus, he knowing about things is not so much new."

"Right. Plus, Dad's always been unpredictable," Ben added. "So what if he offers us food? For all that we know it could've been laced with poison."

"Holy sh*t! Ben!? You're here!?" Diego exclaimed at the sight of his then deceased brother.

"I've always been here!" Ben spoke in between happiness and surprise. "Time-traveling makes sh*ts happen, bud."

Five shook his head. "Anyway, stop overreacting. The weird thing you're ranting about is normal for a dysfunctional family. Besides, Reginald Hargreeves has always been a mystery." The last part in which he said in a whisper.

"Indeed. A mystery one should not bother unraveling."

The voice of the man they're talking about bounced at the walls of the room. Behind him is the same girl from earlier, one hand holding her staff, the other carrying a tray of bread, cookies, and drinks. She placed them down the coffee table with ease despite not seeing anything.

Reginald Hargreeves turned to Five, "Sit down." He did as told, annoyingly.

When all of the six are finally seated, Mr. Hargreeves took his as well.
