A guy whose personality Charlotte had not fully developed but a darkly sexy person who could sate her desire. Except that Charlotte's desire should be criminal: she should be made to feel guilty for her lust. A guy who might tease, in a way that made Charlotte feel awful: "You don't want to do something sweetly romantic tonight? But darling, I thought you were interested in /love/?". A guy who might start pleasuring her only to stop before it reached its climax, who liked the concepts of frustration and denial.
A variation might see him as bitter about his own desire as Charlotte was, but the main idea behind this character was that he was an externalised image of her self-torture.
