Sophie stares at the empty spaces in front of her. The chair her right side where her brother, Daniel used to sit. It was the perfect place to bother Sophie while they were eating, he would steal Sophie's food from time to time, kicking her leg under the table or she would get revenge and put sauce in his drink. The chair on her left side, a spot specially reserved for her mom. The place where she would nag everyone in the house, one after another, no exception, where she'll pick on Sophie's eating habit; Sophie would always push the vegetables to one side. And Daniel's pranks to Sophie and even the way her dad would do nothing but laugh at their childishness. Her father's spot was across her, the most cheerful man who would simply laugh at his children's antics and adored his wife even with her nagging, now it's just a cold empty seat.
None of them is there, Sophie is all alone now. She swallows the bitterness on her tongue and sighs heavily and stand up to wash her dishes. She had to learn the hard way of life without family, everything fell apart when she was 17. She had to drop out of school, she couldn't stand the stares and pity glances she got from everyone, she especially couldn't handle when they placed candles and bouquets by Daniel's old locker. It took so much of her to not cry when she saw it.
Now, she's 21, her parents had saved enough money for her to live comfortably and the house is finally under her name, she's living and that's enough for her now. Her eyes glance towards the family photo that hangs by the beige coloured walls.
"I need some fresh air," she spoke to herself. She dressed up and left the house, making sure to lock the door.
She walked down the street, breathing in the chilly November air. Her phone rings and the caller ID reads Natalie. Sophie declined, not wanting Natalie to worry about her. Suddenly, a pair of strong arms pulled her to the side. Sophie gasped as the figure slammed her body to the wall.
"Elliot?"
Elliot's eyes glower red as he glares down at her. On her shoulder she finally sees it. The guides, but on his, only one stand. The devil. It stands at a defensive pose, similar to Elliot as it glares at Sophie.
It's all because of her. It whispers. Fear and confusion swirl around her as she looks back to Elliot, his eyes have returned back to his normal green hue. Why aren't you doing anything?! The devil's whispers seem to ring in her ears even when she tries to drown it out.
"It's all your fault." Elliot spits, anger dripping all over his words. "Because of you..." He stops. Suddenly the devil on his shoulder grows bigger as if Elliot is feeding him and making him stronger.
She's the reason you are disappearing Elliot. Kill her.
Sophie's heart drops at the whisper she had just heard, her eyes open wide as she looks over to Elliot who has his fingers around her neck. His breathing is steady, and his eyes stare blankly at her as the devil gradually grows bigger.
You can only become a human when she is gone. She's destroying your chance. Kill her!
As if Elliot has gotten possessed, his hands tighten around her neck and she could feel the constriction for her airway. "El-li-" His name barely comes out as she tries her best to rip his fingers off her.
We need her gone, when she's gone, you can finally be alive... KILL HER!
Spots of light start to blur her vision, and Elliot is in no rush to release his deadly grip. Suddenly darkness envelops her.
