These Broken Wings

These Broken Wings cannot take flight,

My life is shrouded with no light,

Shadows lurk around me,

Haunting, taunting, unmercifully,

I cannot escape,

These Broken Wings are more like a plague,

The fire burning inside,

Is gone and cold,

These Broken Wings are nothing anymore,

These Broken Wings cannot hold off the gore,

Something so suddenly fills my heart,

The smell of sea salt wipes my face,

A wave of warmth takes the colds place,

I open my eyes,

Sunlight strikes my body,

Water is underneath me as I soar,

These Broken Wings,

Are Broken No more,

I am stronger now,

No longer will I hide,

I am a dragon,

A dragon inside,

My fire is pure,

And I am sure,

I will never have these broken wings anymore,

You will not bring me down,

You will not steal my hope,

These wings are healed and ready to float,

I take to the sky,

I can fly,

I open my wings,

I am free,

Free,

The inner dragon is free to fly.
