Wolfpaw slowly opened her eyes to see nothing but a constant black void facing back at her. 'Strange, it should be morning right about now?' Wolfpaw thought to herself as she rose herself up from the cold surface she once thought was her safe and warm nest to sleep on. With each step, she began to hear faded echoes of her past steps ring through the endless abyss. It almost scared her with how quiet and alone she was in after she remembered being in a den full of other apprentices, including her brothers. So how in Starclan's name was she here?

So many questions kept running through her head as she continued walking through the abyss, her echoed pawsteps getting fainter than the last. She kept herself calm a little as she kept a slow breathing tempo to help steady herself, but as soon as she could get herself calm, her echoed steps soon came to an abrupt stop, her current steps almost sounded mute as she came to notice this. Everything was quiet, not even her now heavy breathing could be heard through her ears as she began to take cautious looks behind her as she could feel her hair begin to raise almost out of this sort of fear she was experiencing right now.

"Wolfpaw..." A suddenly faded whisper finally hit Wolfpaw's deaf ears. She kept turning her head sporadically to see who and where this voice was. Soon after she could now hear heavy steps echo through the abyss, each step getting louder and louder in which it all leads towards her direction. Wolfpaw didn't take any time to wait and see what was making those steps as she now began to run a straight path. She had hoped that she would be able to find some sort of light so that she could leave this nightmare, but nothing. Only the sudden sounds of those heavy steps getting louder and faster down her way, she could also hear heavy pants from behind as she could feel her heart almost skip with how much fear she was feeling at this moment.

'Why is this happening to me, I just want to be back home.' Wolfpaw thought as she could almost feel her tears begin to well up with each rushing step she took.

"Wolfpaw, stop running..."

'Yeah right, as I'd simply listen to th-' Without finishing her thought, Wolfpaw was cut off with a sudden trip over something she couldn't see. She let out a grunt as she could feel something wet and warm soak into her fur as she looked down at the dark surface to see what made her trip and what exactly was soaked into her fur. Wolfpaw, later on, realized the heavy steps and heavy breathing came to a stop right as soon as she tripped. She was still put on high alert in case it could be close to her, waiting for the chance to attack.

A bright light soon came to shine behind Wolfpaw, it was almost blinding for how long she was left in the dark for, but as soon as the light finally shined to show a clear path, Wolfpaw was finally able to see just what had tripped her.

Lifting her head up with widening eyes, Wolfpaw jerked herself to get back up as she saw a puddle of blood underneath her, a faded smear was where she had tripped but she couldn't quite imagine the scene she was seeing in full thought. Suddenly she heard those heavy steps, and pants, ever so close behind her, almost to the point that she could feel the hot humid breath from whoever was behind her make. Turning her head ever so slowly, Wolfpaw could see a towering wolf looking down at her. It's dark gray fur almost hid its face if not for its glowing amber eyes that pierced through Wolfpaw's very soul. Knowing now that this wolf was somehow the cause of creating this light she cowered down in fear as she could see the wolf's mouth curl up, revealing its large and sharp fangs to her as she could hear a deep growl coming from it as its fur began to rise up from their back, and without hesitation, the angered wolf lunged itself down at the frightful she-cat as all she could do was let out a loud shriek as she could see nothing but darkness once again.

"Wolfpaw? Wolfpaw. WOLFPAW!"

Wolfpaw's eyes shot wide open to the bright rays of the sun shining its light from outside. Wolfpaw sporadically looked around her surroundings to see that she was back in the apprentice den. She tried her best to control her heavy breathing and frightful shaking as she was so relieved of being alive after what she had thought was all over for her. It felt so real too. The bright rays of light from that wolf, the sudden smell and feeling of blood, it just all felt so real.
