01 the satanists

The first funeral Dimitri ever attends is when he's eight and it's his fathers body lying in the casket in front of him. His hands are bludgeoned and skin is beaten black and blue despite makeup trying its best to hide the bruises. His mother is at his side and joins her sons bloody hands in her own equally bloody hands. She gives a delicate motherly smile and congratulates him because he's done well and shown that he has potential that his father was unable to have.

His parents pray to Satan and kill in his name. They lead under his name and absolve to live by his decrees. His mother explains that his fathers death is what Satan would want, says it with a beautiful grin and brush of her blonde hair.

Dimitri is not innocent, he convinces himself that it is what Satan would want, kills his father with his own hands and does not shed a tear. His love for his mother blinds him and leaves him puddy in her hands, something she could easily form to whatever shape she wanted.

Dimitri knows that God would never approve of their lifestyle but he is not religious in that sense at all, hardly even caring to pray for the "god" his mother loves dearly. He likes the way that blood runs along his fingers and enjoys the feeling of euphoria that strings along, often thinking  of nothing but that in his life. At seventeen there's never a moment where there isn't blood on his hands and it brings him peace.

One day it's his mothers blood on his hands, he's not the one to cause it but he does find her bloody and dying out on the floor of their living room. She runs cold and the life in her eyes is fading quickly when she whispers that it'll be alright because she'll be with him. She doesn't want to see his father, instead she wants to see her master in hell.

Dimitri doesn't cry again, he waits till she bleeds out completely and until the last breath leaves her body before pressing two fingers to her neck to make sure she was dead. He sits for a while to watch the room to make sure that whatever cause his mother to die hadn't stayed to wait for him. When he knows it's clear he calls his uncle and tells him that his mother is dead, theoretically the cult is his to lead but he's young and wants nothing to do with the hassle so he hands it to his mothers brother.

A day later, Dimitri is sitting eating a donut, blood droplets scattered around the expansion of his fingers to his arm and a body at his side, when the back door to his home is thrown open with a loud bang.

A man with a cane leads the way for others in cloaks and raises an eyebrow when Dimitri made no movements to run away.

"Dimitri Fleur." The man drowns out tapping his cane against the ground twice, "I'm here to collect you on your mothers behalf."

Dimitri never does get to finish that donut.
