"Well, if it isn't the three musketeers," Sydney, the leader of the Gossip Girls sneers. Isla and Tara are her followers. "Shouldn't you three be ridding the world of evil?" "As a matter of fact, Sydney," Chloe immediately chips in, "They're sending a few different agents on this mission for a change." Chloe can be just as thick with sarcasm as Sydney and her gang. "Aren't you clever?" Sydney snarls. Isla and Tara snigger behind her. "At least one of us is," Chloe, once again, has the last word.
Just then, the Starbucks café doors sweep open to allow a medical crew to rush in. "Water! We need water!" The lady who looks like she is in charge shouts these commands. That's when I see what's happening. An elderly woman is carried in on a stretcher. She has bruises and blood stains on her delicate body. "Oh no," Ava, always the sensitive one, starts tearing up. "Probably a car accident," Chloe says matter-of-factly.
Chloe is right. The lady's name is Karen, and she was driving to visit her friend when a taxi crashed into her and injured her badly. "Girls, we're leaving!" Sydney barks to her minions. "I don't want to lose my appetite just yet!" The Gossip Girls sashay out of the café.
I slowly walk over to the unconscious woman and take ger fragile hand in mine. "Don't worry, girls," I reassure my friends. "She's going to be okay."
That's when I start thinking about how lucky I am to have a full family with no injured or deceased people in it. Some kids my are are orphaned and have no one to dry their tears, no one to clean their cuts when they fall, no one to them kiss good night.
"Helloooo?" Ava snaps me out of my daze. "Yeah?" I reply. "You got a message," Chloe informs me. "Oh," I pick up my phone. The message is from an unknown number.
It's a long message. I read it and my head starts feeling dizzy and the last thing I remember seeing is my best friends rushing over to me.
What happens next is just a blur of mixed emotions.
