Every two days I visit Karen, the other person involved in the accident with my parents, and she's growing strong, and will be much better in no time. It hurts me, however, that I can't help my parents get better, because they're dead. Presumably.
No matter how long I think about the fact that my parents are gone - forever - and that I'll never get to see them again, the less more I want to know what really happened in the accident. When I ask Aunt Callie, she tells me each time not to worry amd that the police have concluded that the 'accident' that happened was unintentional and a real accident. However, I wasn't just going to let the fact that neither of my parents' bodies were found in the accident scene slip. Kind of suspicious if you ask me.
I sigh and pull out my phone. I decide to text Ava. She'll know what to do. She always does.
-Hey, Ava. Do ya mind giving me a motivational message? I'm fading, and fading fast. -
- Sure, Jen. Anything for my best friend, but I've got another idea!-
- And that would be...-
-Skyscraper: Demi Lovato
Skies are crying, I am watching
Catching teardrops in my hands
Only silence, as it's ending
Like we never had a chance
Do you have to make me feel like
There's nothing left of me?
You can take everything I have
You can break everything I am
Like I'm made of glass
Like I'm made of paper
Go on and try to tear me down
I will be rising from the ground
Like a skyscraper, like a skyscraper
As the smoke clears, I awaken
And untangle you from me
Would it make you, feel better
To watch me while I bleed?
All my windows still are broken
But I'm standing on my feet
You can take everything I have
You can break everything I am
Like I'm made of glass
Like I'm made of paper
Go on and try to tear me down
I will be rising from the ground
Like a skyscraper, like a skyscraper
Go run, run, run
I'm gonna stay right here,
Watch you disappear
Yeah, go run, run, run
Yeah, it's a long way down
But I am closer to the clouds up here
You can take everything I have
You can break everything I am
Like I'm made of glass
Like I'm made of paper,
Go on and try to tear me down
I will be rising from the ground
Like a skyscraper, like a skyscraper
Like a skyscraper, like a skyscraper--Thanks, Ava. You always know how to make me feel better.-
-Anytime, Jen. Remember, I've been there too before. -
A few years ago, Ava lost her Dad. Her dad was a fireman, and in one of his cases, he was helping a child down from a fiery building, and long story short, he never made it back out in time. Chloe and I are always sensitive on subjects like that around Ava. So, Ava understands the pain I'm going through.
As for Chloe's parents, they'd always been fighting, and Ava and I would always feel uncomfortable while at Chloe's house for a sleepiver or something. Ryan and Tyler would come into Chloe's room to comfort us and reassure us that everything was going to be okay. Chloe's mom, Alicia, would always apologize for everything, and it was clear she was in an abusive relationship, but her dad would always complain about having 'us kids' around. So usually, we hang out at Ava's or my house. Mostly mine, because it's just me and Sam.
Speaking of Sam, she's been quiet recently after the accident. Whenever Aunt Callie asks her if she wants to talk about anything, she waves us away and says she needs time alone. Maybe one day she'll open up to us and let us in.
