This has to be a mistake, right?!

Matthew was stunned as he stood near the fireplace. He didn't believe it, but on the other hand, it was a good idea on the side of whoever put his name into the Goblet. If Harry participates in the Championships, there'll be a guaranteed opportunity that he would get hurt, or even killed! So why was his name in the Goblet? Matthew flinched slightly and turned around when he heard the door open and Harry walked in, the awkwardness radiating off of the poor boy. "Vhat is vrong?" Fleur asked. "Do ve 'ave to go back to le 'all?"

Matthew glanced at Fleur. She probably thought Harry was there to tell them a message or something, and honestly, he couldn't blame her. Suddenly, there were quick footsteps as Ludo Bagman walked up behind Harry and grabbed his arm, leading him to the others. "Unbelievable!" he muttered and tightened his grip on Harry's arm. "Truly unbelievable! Gentlemen... Lady," he said to the others while he walked over to the fireplace, "may I introduce you to - however weird this may sound - the fourth Champion of the Triwizard Tournament?"

No. Matthew felt the colour drain from his face. Nononononononono, this had to be a mistake, he wasn't supposed to join! Yes, he admitted that it would be a good opportunity for the bad guy, but c'mon! It didn't have to come true!

The Headmasters of the schools came into the room, accompanied by McGonagall, Snape and Arthur. Fleur quickly started talking to Madame Maxime in rapid French, and Matthew had to  preted pretend to not understand them. England subtly scowled and turned to Matthew. "Are you alright, lad?" Matthew, too nervous and overwhelmed with everything just nodded.

Arthur sighed softly and looked over to Harry and Dumbledore. Karkaroff was talking to Krum and glancing at Harry. Arthur looked back to Matthew, who was looking at Fleur while hiding his face in Kuma's fur. How the bear sneaked in was a riddle to him. "Matthew, how about you go back to your dorm room, hm? You seem a little overwhelmed. I'll explain the first Task to you tomorrow after class, okay?"

Matthew nodded slowly and looked at Arthur. It was almost like he was a small colony again. "Okay..." he mumbled into Kumajiki's fur. Arthur led him to the door and guided him out to his dorm. The halls were empty, since everyone was sent back to their dorms. Arthur had a hand on his shoulder, which made Matthew feel comforted but a little homesick at the same time. He wished France was here, at least he could properly talk to him.

"Goodnight, Canada."

"Goodnight England..."
