We got out the car and walked for what seemed like an hour. I could feel myself growing nervous and I knew Damon could feel it as well because he was smiling in deep satisfaction.

I glared at him every time we made eye contact.

“Damon, can you just tell me what’s going on?” I said in my whiney voice. He chuckled and turned to me. “Well there’s no need for that now, Rachel. We’re already here.” He said showing me this cave looking thing and I cocked my eyebrow.

“Why are we here? Did you figure out what the hieroglyphics meant?” I asked crossing my arms. Elijah stood beside me as he turned to me watching my facial expressions. Damon smirked as he pulled out some pictures and laid them on the hood of the car spreading them out. I walked over to the car. Damon blocked my view.

“Woah there, no peaking.” He smirked wiggling his eyebrows and I rolled my eyes pushing him aside to see the pictures. I kept looking at the pictures and I couldn’t read them, that well.

“Why exactly are you showing me the way to kill a witch?” I asked glaring at him.

Damon let out a hearty laugh.

“Oh Rachel, I never knew you to be so funny.” He stated.

“You don’t know me at all Damon Salvatore.” I glared at him.

He chuckled and turned to Elijah. “You know I think I’ve done enough so far, why don’t we let your “brother” take over.” He said emphasizing the brother part. He smirked before a second later he was gone.

I turned to see Elijah standing there looking…

Guilty.

“Elijah, what’s going on?” I asked nervously. He sighed. “I didn’t plan on it coming out this way. But I guess you had to find out either way.” He stated walking towards me. For the first  moment in two years, I felt scared.

“A long time ago, before you were even born, my brother met your mother. She fell in love with him..-,”

“Elijah, what the hell are you talking about. My mother is your mother.” I said taken back.

He shook his head. “No Rachel. You’re mother was my mother’s sister and Niklaus’ step aunt. She was a witch. Hers and Niklaus’ relationship was forbidden. It’s very hard to understand, but you have to listen. Niklaus was only eighteen at the time of you were conceived. Your mother was 30 years old. He took advantage of the fact that she had no one and manipulated her into thinking that she was the one for him. Hard to believe, but your mother was naïve. She believed and trusted in everything Niklaus told her. But when she saw what kind of man Niklaus really was she left him. Niklaus hated the fact, so he went insane. He became angry at everything and everyone. Your mother went to mine for help. My mother gave her advice. The advice was to run and never come back. And that’s exactly what she did, but when you were 18, he came back for you. Your mother did the unthinkable and saved your life. She took her own, and turned you into a tribrid. That way, when you were ready, you’d be able to fight Niklaus if he’d ever try and harm you. He wanted to keep this from you so you could be on his side, but obviously I had other plans. I’m sorry you had to find out this way, but you will help me kill him. Because just like he’d plan to do to your mother, he did mines. He killed my mother for his own selfish reasons.”

My body froze. My thoughts stopped. My mouth went dry and my palms began to sweat. I couldn’t breathe, think or move. Everything around froze in a moment, so quick. So fast. Everything was over.

I don’t understand.

I don’t want to understand.

Klaus is not my father.

He can’t be. I’m not a part of him. He’s my brother.

“Rachel. When you come to your senses, meet me at the cavern to discuss our plans.” Elijah said before walking away, leaving me feeling alone. More alone than I’ve felt in years.

What would Elena think?

Will she forgive me?

Damon won.

He figured out a secret I never knew I was holding. I’ve let them down.

My life, every inch of it was a lie. Everything I’ve ever known has been a lie. Then in a flash, I broke down. Instead of seeing red, black spots filled my eyes and for a moment I’d thought I fainted, but I didn’t. The sound of my bones breaking kept me conscious. Before I knew it, my wolf form took over and then I blacked out.
