Until this moment I had thought she was the perfect women, Tall, beautiful, and her eyes were the brightest blue. The personality she showed me was everything I looked for in a women, she was the love of my life.....
Until it all blew up in my face.... Literally......
I sit down at a small café in Paris waiting for her.
We met on the plane ride over. Both in first class, it was nice having someone to talk to for eleven hours. But anyways after the flight I bit the bullet and asked her out. Which brings us to now, me sitting alone in a café...twiddling my thumbs hoping my date shows up and I don't look like a total fool.
After 5 minutes of waiting she comes running in, her long silver hair blowing in the light breeze, she was wearing a teal off the shoulder crop top and dark blue jeans, her makeup was simple but still noticeable.
"I'm so sorry I'm late, I didn't realize traffic was so bad here" She says sitting down and ordering a coffee.
"We never got to formally introduce ourselves, I'm Aleah" I offer my hand and smile hoping to make a good first impression.
"My name is Sasha" She says with a smile shaking my hand "so what brings you to Paris?" Sasha asks, her bright blue eyes sparkling with adventure, curiosity and something else I couldn't quite understand.
"Business sadly, my dad doesn't like to travel so he sends me to do his work" I say with a slight huff "what about you?" I ask.
"Travel, I was tired of my job so I quit and sold my house to come here and pursue my dreams, I hated the office space and my boss was a perv, France seemed like the best place, and lucky I did" Sasha says with the soft giggle, it was then I noticed the cute dimples spread all over her nose and cheeks.
We continue to talk and talk for what seems like hours, eventually we left the café and started walking around, ending up at the Eiffel Tower.
I've never connected with someone on this level before, she understands the need for travel and the toughness of a working father, she listens intently to my stories and laughs at my jokes......I think I'm in love...
We talked and talked until sun down.
"Parting is such sweet sorrow,I wish I could " I say softly.
"Don't worry, there's always tomorrow" she smiles taking my hand in hers and gently pulling me close to her "when does your meeting end?".
"T-two" I stutter as I feel my cheeks heat up a bit.
She smiles softly "meet me at the café tomorrow after your meeting then" she takes a pen out of her purse and starts writing on my hand, she blows on it gently "text me if it runs long".
"I will" I smile glancing down at the writing then back at her "So tomorrow?".
"Tomorrow" She says then struts off down the street waving down a cab.
I walk up to my hotel room and head to bed, excited for the next day.
I walk into the bathroom and get changed out of my suit and back into comfier clothes then call a taxi, I show up to the cafe around ten after three and smile as I see her in our booth.
"Well aren't you a sight for sore eyes" She says smiling as I sit down "How was the meeting?" she asks intrigued.
I go on explaining about the meeting and my job, she nods and asks questions, it was the first time I felt like someone was interested in what I did, she shared stories about her job and everything she did, Afterwards we went for another walk, talking and laughing like we've known each other for years, there was something familiar about her but I shrugged it off and enjoyed the time I had with her.
"So what was growing up like?" I ask her as we had gotten onto the topic of our childhoods.
"Eh, I'm a survivor" she says quietly, fidgeting with her hands.
I nod "What about baked goods?" I ask not wanting to press on.
She smiles seeing what I'm doing "Definitely banana cream pie" She says "What about you?".
"Tiramisu hands down" I grin as we stop and look at the river.
"Oooo good choice, Where is the scariest place you've ever been?".
"Hmm It would have to be this one cabin a friend of mine and I visited when I was young, it was super creepy, we found these weird dolls in the basement..." I hesitate to say the rest, not wanting to bring up that bad memory again.
"What happened if you don't mind my asking?" Sasha says. And that's when I tune out, the memory fading back to that dreaded day.
"Come out come out wherever you are" the dark figure says softly, his deep voice filling the room "Don't be scared, my friends here won't hurt you, they just want to help you" he says looking around, I ready the bat as he gets closer to the closet.
"Girls! It's time to come inside now!" Laurence yells from upstairs.
The figure takes its hand away from the door and starts walking upstairs, I feel tears streaming down Mya's face.
"Girls!" I hear him yell again.
"Down here hurry! One of them is hurt!" The figure yells upstairs putting his cane on the desk and putting his hat up.
Laurence runs downstairs and the figure grabs something.
"Laurence No!" Mya yells breaking free from my grip and jumping out of the closet.
The figure smiles a twisted smile.
Laurence stops in his tracks as he sees what going on.
I jump out of the closet and stand beside Mya, bat in hand as we slowly move towards Laurence.
"Well lookie here, more friends" the figure says now playing with a knife.
"Give me the girls and we can be friends ok?" Laurence says reaching his hand out for us.
"But we are friends aren't we?" It asks fidgety.
"O-of course we're friends, but we need to go home and grab some toys for all of us?" I say walking slowly towards Laurence keeping eye contact with it, keeping my hand around Mya.
"But I have plenty of toys" it says excitedly.
"We want to show you some of our toys, don't worry we'll come back" Laurence says.
"No! Nobody leaves!" It says picking up one of the knives.
"Ok ok, how about we play hide and seek? Just put the knife down" I say reaching Laurence.
"Hide and seek? Like what we were playing earlier?" It asks.
After a few minutes we manage to convince it to play, it starts counting and we edge our way up the stairs then run off to the door, Laurence grabs an old chair leg and breaks the door handle, he throws Mya into me and I start running holding her tightly in my arms.
"Laurence!" She screams struggling in my arms.
I turn around for a second and I've lost sight of him. "H-he was just behind me" I say looking around
Then I smell fire, I turn to the house and see it in flames and hear sirens in the distance.
Laurence didn't make it, neither did the figure, he set the house on fire to end the entity, but took his own life in the process. Mya stopped talking to me and blamed me for everything, her and her family disappeared shortly afterwards and I've never seen her or forgiven myself ever since.
"Hey are you alright, Aleah?" Her voice brings me back to reality.
"Y-yea sorry what were we talking about?" I say snapping back wiping the tear from my eye.
She looks at me almost mad, her eyes seems almost red with fury "the scariest place you've ever been, but by the looks of it that's not a good story" she says pulling me into a hug.
"Heh yea, it's a doozy" I say softly hugging her back.
"It's been a few weeks since I've met Sasha. She knows more about me then most of my best friends. We're heading to the Eiffel Tower tonight, she says she has a present for me, I'm excited to see what it is" I say on the phone with my dad.
"That's great sweetheart" he says, I can tell he's smiling "I hope everything goes well tonight, but I've got to go, business calls".
"I understand, love you dad".
"Love you too sweetheart" he hangs up and I flop on the hotel bed with butterflies in my stomach, I look at clock
[11:53]
"Ughhhhh eight more hours, I guess I could do some shopping" I mutter to myself looking through the closet eventually putting on a nice floral dress, then picking out my outfit for the date, carefully folding it and setting it on the desk, then I grab my purse and phone then head out of my hotel room and down the street to the local boutique.
I browse through the clothes for a few hours not thinking about it too much, lost in my own thoughts.
After a few hours I head to lunch, I sit in the booth and order a milkshake not too hungry, and I fidget with the ring on my finger.
I miss you mom, I wish you could have stayed around longer. I miss the way you used to hold me in your arms, you were always around when I needed you, I met this girl, god you'd love her.
I slip the dress over my head careful of my makeup and hair, then the flats I picked, I grab my purse and look at the time.
[6:00]
"I'll be a little early" I mutter as I lock the hotel room and walk down the stairs.
I put my headphones in and start walking enjoying the scenery swaying gently with the music singing softly forgetting the people around me.
I make it to the Eiffel Tower about twenty minutes early, I go up to the viewing deck and lean against the railing looking out at the sunset, I feel arms wrap around my waist and an earbud be taken.
"Ooo Avril, I like your taste" Sasha says swaying with me.
I giggle softly and put my hands on hers, leaning against her.
We stay swaying together looking out at the sunset listening to my music humming softly, after a few songs she turns me around and pulls a rectangular box out of her purse, I smile and open it, it's a beautiful silver necklace with a ruby at the bottom.
"It's beautiful, can you help me put it on?" I ask turning around.
She smiles and helps with the clasp "I thought you'd like it, I thought of you when I looked at it, can I take you somewhere?" She asks.
"Sure" I say intertwining my fingers with hers.
We head down and follow the river, we head into the darker part of town.
"Where are we going?" I ask softly squeezing her hand a bit.
"You'll see" she says with a light smirk, I couldn't tell if that was a good or bad thing.
"Now!" a voice yells from behind us and Sasha twists my hand backwards and pushes me towards them.
"Ow! What are you doing Sasha!" I yell squirming to get out of her grasp.
"Quiet Peaches" she says gruffly "and it's Mya, I thought you would have figured that out by now" is the last thing I hear before I'm hit on the head and knocked unconscious.
I wake up groggy and look around, I'm in a plane surrounded by other people, my arms are tied around my back as are my feet.
"Why are you doing this" I ask wanting to plead at this point, Mya walks in looking completely different, she used to be this little girl with blond hair and brown eyes with dimples who was so quiet and sweet to this now grown woman, long brown hair, the brightest blue eyes who's tall and not so quiet.
"Because your father planned Laurence's death and crossed my boss, your father has been doing some very shady things that my boss doesn't like" she grabs my chin forcing me to look up "and now his precious little girl gets to pay the price".
"But why me! Why not him" I pull away from her.
"Well we need information on how, which is where you come in" she smirks "tell us what we want to know, or that little necklace of yours explodes".
"Then kill me, because I'm not telling you anything" I say with a huff annoyed that my father put me in this position.
"Sure you won't, just like you didn't blindly fall in love with someone you just met, or blindly followed your father's instructions, I'm sure in no time I'll have what I need" Mya says sitting across from me, the other people leaving slowly.
"So how will this necklace explode?" I ask slightly confused.
"Now why would I tell you that, I know what your planning, and it's not going to work" She says.
"Common give me something, your using me to get to my father anyways, give me something before you kill me." I beg at this point, just wanting something to go off.
"How about you answer my questions, then I'll answer yours" she says now sitting.
We continue arguing on and on for what seemed like hours, both of our frustrations growing higher and higher, she was no long the girl I knew back then, she was the complete opposite. Memories continuously replayed in head, playing toys, making flower crowns all for it to end up like this.
She had dropped hints subtle but I picked up on them easy.
She was telling me how to break the necklace, how to end it all.....
I fiddle with the rope around my wrists loosening it enough, I look into her eyes and she looks back into mine almost as if it say I'm sorry....
Mid argument I stand up ripping the necklace off and smashing it against the plane window, I look at Mya as I do it, we had apologized to each other, no words needed to be said, the look in her eyes said it all, maybe we could have been together, maybe in another life....
The last thing I hear is "I love you" from Mya then just ringing.
I look around and see beautiful golden pearly gates, standing in front is my mother I run to hug her.
"Welcome home my sweet baby" she says and we walk through the gates together happily finally freed of the dreadful world under us.
