BEEP BEEP BEEP. My alarm went off at 6am as it always did. Lloyd groaned and rolled onto his front. I got up and switched it off. My alarm clock was the other side of my room, ensuring I couldn't just switch it off and go back to sleep. I padded slowly back over to the bed and sat down beside him. I began gently running my fingers through his hair. It was a little messy from where he slept but it still looked good and damn was it soft. He slowly opened one bleary green eye.
"Morning sunshine" I said softly
He smiled "Morning"
"How do you feel?"
"Awful but it's worth it"
"Do you remember last night?"
"Mostly"
I raised my eyebrows; he'd been really drunk. I'd half expected him to wake confused with no memories of last night. He shifted onto his side. By the look on his face I guess that movement didn't feel so good.
"Do you want some breakfast?"
Lloyd's face went pale
"Or maybe a bucket?"
"No, no I'm okay"
I wasn't convinced
"How about a cup of tea?"
"Oh god yes please" I laughed lightly at his sudden enthusiasm and went to make us both a cup of tea.
Just as I left the room, I popped my head back around the door.
"How do you take your tea?"
"Black, two sugars"
Luckily no one else got up at this time so I didn't have to worry about my flatmates seeing Lloyd or asking why I'm making a second cup of tea. That wasn't an awkward conversation I wanted to have this early in the morning. I carefully carried the tea back to my room. Lloyd was on the phone when I entered the room.
"I got side tracked... No, I'm fine..." He looked up at me while I put down the cups. By the tone of his voice and the look on his face I could tell he wasn't feeling good. He was definitely hungover, and bad. I opened the top drawer of my bedside table and took out some aspirin pressing them into his hand.
"You're an actual angel" he exclaimed eyes full of gratitude.
There was a commotion on the other end of the phone. Lloyd winced.
"Nobody! Just a friend... No... That didn't happen"
I couldn't help laughing at his expense. He gave me an exasperated look. I shrugged and sipped my tea. After a few more attempts to deny whatever the other person was insinuating he hung up the phone with a "see you later"
He groaned as he flopped back onto the bed.
"What time is it?"
"Early. You can sleep more if you want."
He let out a relaxed sigh.
"Sounds good. Sorry you kinda had to look after me last night"
"It was worth it" I smiled
Lloyd turned to me, a soft smile on his face. He dragged himself back up with a grunt, grabbed his tea and downed some aspirin.
We sat in silence for a while. Both of us slowly drinking our tea. Lloyd broke the tension.
"I like the stars." He pointed up at my ceiling. I had glow in the dark stars all over it. Its was still pretty dark and I hadn't turned on any lights so you could just about see them glowing.
I smiled as I looked at them. They reminded me of home. I missed home.
"Could you wake me in a couple hours?" Lloyd snapped me out of my daze.
"Bold of you to assume I'll be awake." I said into my mug, I looked up at him. He smiled and raised his eyebrows.
"Guess we're sleeping together then?" I blushed, laughing lightly at the possible implications of what he said. Lloyd's face went red as he realized how it sounded. "I didn't mean... I just" he buried his face in his hands. So cute
"Relax Lloyd I knew what you meant" He huffed and looked away. "We could watch something instead?" He nodded. I grabbed my laptop and opened Netflix. We scrolled through the films and decided on Megamind. Who cares if it's a kid's film? We spent the next few hours watching films and joking around. Halfway through Monsters Vs Aliens Lloyd's phone went off. He looked at the screen
"I have to go" He said looking disappointed. I gave him a sad look and got up to show him out. I was pretty sure my flatmates would be up by now and I didn't think they'd be happy about him being here. He was a stranger after all. Lloyd looked at his phone his face sad and slightly annoyed, before his eyes widened and he looked up at me.
"Can I have your number?" The way he said it was so hopeful and excited I couldn't say no, not that I wanted to. I took his phone and entered in my contact details. Mum would kill me for giving my number to a stranger but he already knew where I lived and... I liked him. I handed him my phone so I'd have his number too. Then it was time for Lloyd to go. I carefully scouted the apartment, no signs of life. At the front door I hugged Lloyd goodbye.
Just as he was about to leave he stopped and said
"You really are pretty and I meant what I said last night."
