"No." Diana furiously shook her head. "Di.." "No!!! I'm not marching into enemy's territory with you!" She kept cutting Karla. Karla rolled her eyes. She stomped to her and took her wrists gently stopping Diana from pacing like a mad woman.
"Diana, please. You are the best at picking locks and sneaking into places." Karla searched for Diana's eyes but that woman easily avoided her. "I sneaked into houses to steal informations not a person."
Diana hissed under her breathe. "Tell me, is Laura completely sure her sister was taken by Vamp Hunters?"
Karla didn't answer. Her hesitation was answer enough. Diana pulled away and flopped down onto a single couch. She shook her head slowly. "That's our best guess, Diana. Who else would want to kidnap a Femme Fatale? Laura has called her sister numerous times but no answer."
"I cannot risk my life on some predictions and guesses, Karla. It could be a death trap. Worse, if we are actually wrong and Violet isn't even there. It would be suicide." Diana's hands went to her forehead, massaging the headache away.
"It's worth trying than sit here, doing nothing." Karla's voice was almost a whisper. Diana kept her mouth silent. "Di.." Karla inched closer and slowly knelt in front of her. "Please, I need you. I can't do this with you."
"Then, don't go." Diana looked back into Karla's eyes. Both of their eyes were begging to each other. "You know I have to. If something happens to Laura or Violet and I don't even try to help, I'll live with that guilt forever. I already have enough guilt on my shoulders."
Again, the image of her sister's death appeared. Diana didn't have to ask. She already knew what's happening in her bestfriend's head. Karla suddenly offered her the shadow of a smile. "I have to go." She stood up.
Without any warning, she pulled Diana into a tight embrace. "I'm sorry if today I'll break our first promise." She whispered. They broke apart. Karla looked at Diana for a moment, as if remembering her bestfriend's face for the last time.
With a nod, she exited the room. Diana didn't watch her go. She only turned to the door when Karla closed it shut.
Our first promise. The promise to die together.
Diana bit her lips hardly, almost drawing blood. Frustrated, she grabbed her leather jacket and ran downstairs.
Karla was on her last step when she heard footsteps running after her. A smirk crept onto her face. She turned around only to see Diana standing behind. "You are not going." Karla furrowed her brows as Diana inched closer.
"Not without me." Hearing those words, Karla tackled Diana to the ground, laughing. They forgot they were still on the stairs. Both of them fell onto the white marble floor with a loud thud.
"I know you love me." Karla said between laughing. Diana rolled her eyes. "You won't pass their front door if you don't have me."
"Unfortunately, you aren't going to walk through this bungalow's front door at all." The women's laughter died. They turned to face the spiral stairs. Elara descended it slowly.
Mia trailed closely. She dragged Laura alongside her. Laura's hands were in manacles. "Have you gone crazy? You want to walk into enemy's lair knowing how dangerous it is." Elara's voice filled with rage.
"Please.. I must save my sister. I didn't ask for backup. I'll just go alone." Laura tried to speak up but Mia's grip on her got harsher. "Alone? You are dragging two of my best agents with you." Elara glared at her.
Karla clenched her fist. "We are not your pets, Elara." All of them were shocked. No one ever used Elara's name. They addressed her as the Mistress. "Excuse me?" Elara restrained herself from going down and killed Karla on the spot.
"I said, we are not your pets. You don't control us. We do what we want." Karla gritted her teeth. She challenged Elara with her eyes. There was a very heavy and thick tension between them.
"I'm sick of following your orders. You act like you own us but you don't." Karla continued. Every single word laced with poison. Diana glanced at Elara. The Mistress was trying too hard to regain her control.
At last, Diana dropped on her knees, kneeling. "Forgive us, Mistress but we beg you. Give us a chance. If we are truly the deadly Femme Fatales, the ones you always spoke highly of, then you must believe in us. I can't offer you guarantee of our safety but you always say." She stopped short.
"We are a family. Not by blood but by heart and family doesn't leave each other behind." Elara seemed taken aback. "No matter how high the risks are."
Diana was still kneeling. Elara glanced at Mia. That woman communicated with her eyes. With a heavy sigh, Elara nodded. Mia moved and released Laura.
"Rise, Siren. I give you a chance. Only this time. Don't waste it." Diana quickly rose to her feet, giving a bow. Elara turned around and left without any words left to say.
"Mia!" She shouted when she realised her Alpha wasn't following. Mia spared the women one last glance before ascending the stairs. "She didn't bother to say goodbye." Diana said in a low voice.
"She doesn't care about us. Her loyalty lays with the Mistress." Karla snickered before walking towards Laura. "Let's go before Elara changes her mind." The three of them left together.
From her balcony, Elara watched Karla's black Lotus Evora brought her agents to their own death. "It's a trap." Mia muttered slowly. "Even a fool can see that." She continued.
"Whether they'll die or.. worse" Elara stopped, fingers drumming against the rail of her balcony. Mia didn't question further. She knew exactly what's worse.
"It's time they learn the truth." Elara continued. Eyes staring at the vast blue sky, trying to foresee a future she can't tell.
