The fresh minty smell hits my nostrils as soon as I opened the guest room door. I guess all the rooms smell like this. Standing at the doorway, I observed the room with white walls, a large bed and matching white and grey sheets that can go with the interior, the wall beside the bed is decorated with lights and some paintings so that the room will look comfortable and warm in general. I never have to clean this room so this is the first time I came here.

I was too exhausted to unpack my bags so I did the only right thing that any sane people would do-I lied down in my bed.

"Exhausted?" The husky voice came from the door and I didn't even have to look. "Very much" I breathe out

"Can I come in?" He asked and I nodded my head

He laid beside me and gave me his arm to use it as a pillow. I cuddled with him, smelling his peppermint cologne.

As soon as my nostrils were hit by the smell, I feel relaxed. I love this smell so much.

"I missed you" He whispered in my ear, making me shiver.

"I know," I said "I missed you too" I snuggled against his chest and sighed.

"You know the first time I laid my eyes on you at school, I felt something familiar about you. something that has always attracted me."

"Yeah, and that's why you were always cold towards me" I pointed out

"That's because I didn't want any other girl to come into my life," He said in a defensive tone.

"And may I ask you why is that?" I squinted my eyes; his cheeks are being redder and redder with a passing seconds

"Oh My Gosh!! You have someone don't you" I almost squealed

"NO" He replied hiding his face

"Yes, you do. Who is that girl?" I was now curious.

I don't know what is happening but the thought of Vincent with some other girl is making me nauseous.

"Aren't you gonna tell me who is that girl?"

"No, It's meant to be secret. Just so you know she is very pretty and she can be annoying as hell when she wanted to be."

Annoying and pretty? Is she from our school? Who could it be?

"Stop racing your mind" Vincent interrupts me

"I'm not" I mumbled

"You should've at least tried to talk with us. With me" He said being serious which makes me frown

"I know..I have always wanted to tell you guys. I tried, once or twice but I just couldn't gather up the courage because I was scared. Scared of the thought that I might lose the only family that I have left now. And I am sorry for that, I am."

It was true. They are my family now and I cannot lose them.

"I'm not mad Lisa. I understand. You thought it was the only right thing to do and I respect your decision." He caressed my cheek

"Thank you" I smiled looking at him

"You finally got your tattoo" He pointed at the star marked in my left wrist which I had to keep hidden because of the stupid school rules

"Yeah, It was my dream after all"

"It was your OBSESSION" Vincent pointed out as I rolled my eyes

"HEY" Carter barged into the room with a big goofy smile

I raised my eyebrows hoping that he would see me

"Oh hi! Miss i-love-my-ponytails" He engulfed me in a hug

"What did you just say?" I squinted my eyes with pure rage

"You heard me" He gave me a cheeky smile; that nerves of him

"You little-

"Annoying stinky elf" Eva interrupts me giving me a wink

Oh, here we go again!

"What did YOU just say?" Carter asked with pure shock

"Oh! Didn't know that this elf is deaf" She said way too innocently which made me and Vincent burst out of laughter

"Anyways Eleanor is calling you guys for dinner" She went downstairs but not before glaring at Carter who was standing there with a dropped jaw

I went downstairs only to see Eva trying to steal cookies.

"Really?" I gave her wtf look

"What? I haven't tasted your cookies" she defended

I raised my eyebrows at her

"Alright, I have tasted your cookies but what can I say these are pure heaven"

"Will you taste that heaven if I said I put my cooties in there" Carter winked at Eva and sat at his chair

Eva, on the other hand, had a disgust in her face. Her nose was scrunched up and she seems like she could throw up any moment.

"Did you actually believe that?" I asked her trying to hold my laughter

"You can't blame me. I mean who knows, right? I didn't call him ELF just like that" She uses her hand to express

"I heard that" yelled Carter

The dinner table was full of mouth-watering chicken, sandwiches, baked beans and soup.

I quickly grabbed my plate and served myself.

Well, I am hungry

"So Alyssa....." Eleanor started

"I hate it when you use my full name" I signed

I know what this conversation is about. And I hate it.

"I guess you already know where this conversation is gonna lead" Eleanor smiled sweetly

I nod my head already hating the fact that I know

"As I was saying, you will be going to school with Vincent and you will come home straight after school with-

"Me" Eva interrupts

"Yeah, With Evangeline" Eleanor nods satisfied with herself

"Just Eva" Eva mutters

"But I can't stay like this. I have my whole life ahead I can't be afraid just because they have threatened me. Please, Eleanor. I promise if something happens I will call you or Vincent straight away."

"I think Dimple is right" Carter spoke for the first time with a serious expression while Vincent and Eva just nodded staring wide-eyed at him

I glanced at Eleanor; she was furrowing her eyebrows showing some of her wrinkles near her eye

I did a happy dance inside my head, she must consider her decision

"Alright! You can work part-time after school but you still would be going to school with Vincent or Carter" She clapped her hands and twitched her mouth

"Fine" I sighed knowing that no one can change her mind now.
