Chapter 5 Fate

I woke up to someone banging on my bedroom door. Last night we came home at 4 in the morning. Yeah that late. Groaning I roll over on my bed only to fall onto the hard floor. A yelp escape my lips. "Hum... are you okay?" someone said. I turn to face them. He had brown hair and brown eyes. I could tell he is River's Beta by the scent. "What do you want?" I grunted as I pull myself up. He gave me a small smile. "Your dad wants you " he stated. I sigh. "Could it wait?" I ask walking over to my door. I push it shut and stared at my reflection. I'm wearing pink p.j. bottoms and a pink t-shirt. Both of them were cover with jelly beans design. My hair is loose and curly and a bit messy. Oh joy.

"No, he seems.... angry" reply the beta. I glance at him over my shoulder. "Great what have I done now?" I mutter walking over to my bedside. I unplug my IPhone slipping it into my bottoms. "Not sure .. I'm Andrew by the way" . I slip my feet into some white socks before turning to Andrew. "I'm Kate" I said with a court nod. He raise his eyebrow before smirking. "Your River's Mate" Andrew said. It wasn't a question it's a statement. "Yup" I sigh. River...

Pushing my door open, I wave goodbye to Andrew before he turned down the stairs and I walk down the hall to my dad's office. Not bothering to knock I push the door open. Kicking it shut with my foot. My dad, Jason and River were here. They look like in the middle of something important by the annoyed looks. Ignoring them I turn to my dad. "Is there something so important that you had to wake me up?" I snap. Jason was sitting in a seat in front of my dad right next to River. Walking over to Jason I push him off his seat before sitting. "HEY" he scream. I roll my eyes. "Don't you have something important to be doing Jace?" I ask. Que in childhood nickname.

"Yes Kate I WAS doing something important " he reply getting up. I watch as he pick up some random papers. By the looks of it it's Alpha stuff. "Isn't that Chase's work?" I ask pointing to the paper. "Your brothers are out looking for your sister" My dad voice said . I turn to him frowning. "What do you mean look for 'your sister' " I said quoiting it with my fighter. "She didn't come home last night" River voice said. I turn to him and raise my eyebrow before look back at my dad.

"And this is my problem.. ?" I said tilting my head to the side. It's not like it's my fault. Well maybe it is. May could be lost and starving right now but it's not like she lost. It would have take her a while to stumble into Henry's territory. Unless she didn't make it and was kidnapped. No No that stupid. I shook my head. Who would kidnap sweet little May? Out of the corner of my eye I saw River rub his temples glaring at me. I turn to him and raise my eyebrow. "Stop thinking too much" he grumble. I roll my eyes and move my eyes to my dad who look confused to say the least. He frowned, his eyes shifting from River to me. "Is there something I'm missing here?" he finally ask.

"Kate is my mate" River reply shrugging. I took in a sharp breath when my dad looked so shocked. "And who was going to give me this piece of information?" Dad question me. Of course pin it on me. It never slip my mind that maybe my dad won't be angry, upset or disappoint if everyone else knew but him. He hates being kept out of the loop just like.

"Blame him" I pointed my fighter at River. Now it was River's turn to look shock. He then shook his head his mumbling something I couldn't catch. "No it's your fault " he said getting up from his seat. I shook my head. My curls spinning around in the progress. " Your the man!" I shot back . Very lamely I may add. River chuckle at my lameness before smirking. "So he is your dad" Asshole! "Well.... " I trail off not knowing what to say which made River laugh. It was deep and throaty and it made my stomach twist.

"Okay Enough auguring you 2" my dad said. River stop laughing. He smiled. A real smile. Oh dear he does have a smile! "Sorry Thomas" River said. I snorted. "Sorry Thomas" I mimicked. River rolls his blue eyes. "I do not sound like that" River pointed out. "Oh course not!" I said sending him a sarcastic smile. "You sound more like this" I press on . I clear my throat and in a really high pitch voice I said "Sorry Thomas". My dad cracked a grin no longer angry. River shook his head, the corner of his mouth twitch into a small smile. "Are you sure that not how you sound sweetheart?" he shot back. I ignore the way my wolf purred at the 'sweetheart' part but I know it didn't go unotice by River's wolf.

"I do not" I said glaring at him. He chuckle. "Nah, you sound way worse" he joked. Before I could reply I got mind-linked by Bells.

"In the kitchen there is a unattened box of chocolate cupcakes, hurry down!"

Bells knows how much of I love chocolate. In fact I don't trust anyone who doesn't. I threw my dad a sneaky smile which he didn't caught but River did. Of course he did. He only knew me for what a day and he already knows the same things Bells know. I wonder what would happen in a couple of years. Will he be the same or uncover dark sercets that I buried away. I shook my head. It's not like he smart enough to catch on.

I waved goodbye before exiting the door. On the other hand there is no way I could escape what faint has for me. Maybe he would learn about Grandmary and Ace. Or the war that ruined everything and everyone. I bit back a tear. I wouldn't cry. I already spent a year crying. It's time to move on. That what life is all about. Moving on starting the next chapter.

I ran downstairs stumbling down on the last step. There were only 3 wolves downstairs. They look like a mated family. The mom looks really young. Younger than me. Maybe 16? The mom glance over at me as her son threw a random toy at the t.v. I laugh and threw her a casual smile. Maybe one day that would be me.

I walk into the kitchen to see Bells hopping on one foot to the other. "Reed" I said. She stop hopping and looked at me. "New nickname uh?" she smiles walking over to the conter. I shrug. "I'm your best friend I could change your nickname as I please" I tease shoving her lightly. She roll her eyes. "How would you like it if I call you cat?" she smirk. I growl under my breath. "Lady do I like a cat to you" said. Bells shrug pushing a white box. I look at it to see about 26 chocolate cupcakes and no name. I smirk. "Lets dig in " I said. Thankfully this one time Bells actually agreed to do something bad.
