This was published and written before all the changes I made.
Warning: Spoilers for the Burning Maze ahead, so if you haven't read it yet, be careful!
Summary: You go on the quest with Meg and Apollo. Apollo has to sacrifice himself. (Also, I haven't read the book in a minute, so I might not be super accurate. I apologize if I got anything wrong!)
Warnings: Angst, a bit of fluff but not really, spoilers

You had tried everything. You went from screaming and kicking, to using your sword to get out of you wind-cage, but to no avail. So here you were, sitting in a cage, unable to help your friend as he fought Caligula.
You had never felt more useless than you did at his moment. And you hated it. You couldn't stand this feeling. You couldn't stand just sitting back and watch while Apollo was-- and then you saw it. You knew what he was going to do.
You leaped to your feet, and began screaming, hoping that Apollo could hear you, even though you knew he couldn't. He made eye contact with you as he held the arrow up to his chest. He said something you couldn't understand and plunged the arrow into his rib cage.
When you saw your chance, you broke free of your cage and rushed to his side. "No. No, no, no, no, no... Apollo!"
Once you reached him, you skidded to your knees and laid his head on your lap. "Hey. Hey, it's okay. It's okay, I'm here. I'm here."
You could tell he was in immense pain. He tried for a smile but ended up coughing up blood. He said something to the Arrow of Dodona, but you couldn't tell if that was a hallucination or not.
He started to close his eyes. "Apollo. Apollo, keep your eyes open. Stay with me. You can do it. Come on, stay with me." His eyes remained closed, despite your attempts to keep him awake.
"Apollo, no. Apollo, wake up. You have to wake up." You were trying not to cry and failing. "Apollo. Apollo, please, you have to wake up." You let out a broken sob and buried you face in his neck.
You could hear fighting going on, but nothing else mattered. Then, you started to sing. This was something you both did to comfort each other, and this time was no different.
"You are my sunshineMy only sunshine
You make me happy
When sky's are gray
You'll never know, dear
How much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine awayThe other night, dear
As I lay sleeping
I dreamed I held you in my arms
When I awoke, dear
I was mistaken
And I hung my head and criedYou are my sunshine
My only sunshine
You make me happy
When sky's are gray
You'll never know, dear
How much I love you
Please don't take my sunshine awayPlease don't take my sunshine away"
"Come on, sunshine. Wake up. Please." You held his face in your hands as you sobbed. "Please, you have to wake up."
"Beautiful." You heard him speak. It was no more than a whisper, but it was enough for you to know he was alive.
"Guys, we have to go." Meg came over and helped you pick Apollo up after you used some of your magic to heal him.
You were a daughter of (g/p), but Apollo had blessed you with healing magic after the Titan War because of all your help both fighting and healing.
"Where's Jason?" You asked, but promptly dropped the subject when you saw Meg's face.
Once you reached shore, you collapsed in a heap. You let out another sob as your emotions came crashing down on you. The shock of almost losing Apollo and of losing Jason seemed to spill out of you as you wept.
You crawled over to Apollo and embraced him tightly. "I know this is really cliche, but I thought I lost you."
"I know, and for that I am sorry." he hugged you back weakly and kissed your forehead. "I love you, you know that?"
"Yeah, I know, sunshine." You pecked him on the lips. "I know."
