Skaro

I awoke in my bedroom in the Tardis. I get up, get dressed and walk down the hall to the control room and I wait in the rarely used seats. “Ah, I see you have awoken Amelia,” says The Doctor trotting down the stairs leading to the other rooms of the Tardis.

“As have you Doctor,” I say, smiling.

“Where do you want to go next,” he asks in that voice that he always asked the same question in.

“I actually know where I want to go this time. I want to go to the Dalek’s home world,” I say almost expecting his answer of no but he didn’t say it. He looked excited as always.

“Incredibly dangerous, but we have been through worse. Let’s go,” I was utterly shocked. The Doctor usually wanted to stay as far away from the Daleks as they did him. The Doctor is the only thing the Daleks fear.  The Doctor began flipping levers, turning knobs, and pressing buttons as he always did when we were departing from our current location to a new one. The Tardis began making the wheezing, low noise it always made and we were off to the most dangerous place in the universe. Skaro was the planet’s name. We were almost docked but the Doctor received a phone call from someone. So he stopped manipulating the controls and went to the door of the small blue box and opened it. I looked through the doorway and noticed we were hovering above the planet as if we were in orbit of it. The planet looked red and vaguely green from space. The phone was still ringing. The Doctor opened up the little compartment for the phone on the exterior of the Tardis and answered.

“Hello?” he asks casually. I couldn’t hear the other person on the end but The Doctor’s facial expression changed drastically to an almost afraid face when he heard the other thing answer. “But we are in the past before any of that happened.” he replies. I tried to make myself look busy and not as if I’m listening in on the call.  “Nonsense!” he says loudly and hung up the phone abruptly.

“Everything okay?” I ask innocently as if I didn’t already know there was most likely going to be trouble later on.

“Yes, of course! Everything is fine as always!” he says excitedly. The Doctor closed the door and got back to manipulating the controls. He pulled his Sonic Screwdriver out of the pocket in his jacket and pointed it at the controls and it made the sort of light screeching noise it always made and then he turned to me and said “That reminds me, you’re going to need one of these on Skaro, lots of locked doors and places that are fun to explore. Come with me.” He turned and put the screwdriver back in the pocket it was always in and walked up the stairs to the other rooms of the blue box. We walked down the hall to the third door on the left. He opened it and it was a room filled with what I assumed were tools that Time Lords used to build the Tardis. “Be careful messing with some of these. One wrong maneuver with one of these tools could confuse it and make it detonate.” He said nonchalantly.

“Then why keep them around?” I ask but it’s as if he expected it because he answers as soon as I finished talking.

“I like danger,” he says casually.

That’s obvious. You wouldn’t be a time traveler if you didn’t enjoy a little bit of danger here and there. After a few moments of looking around the tool room, he walks over to a small shelf and grabs a Sonic Screwdriver and hands it to me. I already know how to use it because I used The Doctor’s what seems like forever ago. “Do you remember how to use it?” he asks.

“Of course. It’s just like every other piece of Time Lord technology. Just think what you want it to do.” I say informatively.

“Correct. Take care of it. It very well could save your life,” he says. “Ready to go to Skaro?” he asks, smiling.
