Morgan's Pov
It was dark. I couldn't tell much about the room I was in. All I knew was that it was dark, cold, and the air was thick. It made it harder to breathe. I tried to move but I felt the chains around my wrists and I moved my hands around trying to find out where the chains went. I felt the wall not too far behind me and the chains cemented into the wall.
"Dammit," I whispered. I tried to let my eyes adjust but I saw nothing but the color black. I felt along the wall trying to stand but I felt myself get slightly dizzy as soon as I did so. I almost fell to my knees but I managed to stay standing. My legs shook and my heartbeat was the only thing I could hear. I stayed as focused as I could and I kept going along the wall.
The wall was quite moist in some places with leakage. This place was old. I could tell that much. The wall was made of like stone. Like, blocks of stone set up with most likely mud or weak cement holding it all together. Then a question ran through my mind as I tried to find out where the end of the wall was.
Who was Agatha really?
It wasn't likely her name was actually Agatha. I mean, this was a criminal group. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people I knew had fake names. Donovan? Josh? Maybe everyone just had a code name and I was just stupid using my real name. Maybe it should be like Megan? Close to my real name but not my real name. I needed to snap out of it. For crying out loud Morgan you are probably in another torture basement or something.
I kept feeling around until my chains pulled at my wrists stopping me. I used my foot feeling around the floor. It was wet as well. But the ground was more of mud than anything. I kneeled down as best as I could and I felt around. I knew I was getting mud on my hands.
"Where am I? These kinds of places shouldn't exist anymore. Let alone be standing." I murmured. I felt the wall and I started slamming the chains against it and suddenly someone wrapped their arms around me and pulled me back and then grabbed my arms stopping me. I slammed my elbow back and elbowed them in the chest. I heard Josh started coughing and I tensed.
"S-sorry! God dammit Josh! Don't do that!" I yelled and he slapped me.
"Stop making noise." He whispered. "I know exactly where we are. It's a detention center for a more less violent term."
"Why the hell are we here?" I asked. He sighed.
"I don't know, but we have to get out fast." He said.
"Yeah. I can tell. The wall is guaranteed to be weak. The stone is old that's holding it together. The ground is just, ground. We can easily get out of here if we just dig." I said. Josh moved his arms around. I could tell by the way his chains shook.
"We need to get these off first." He sighed. I looked at him with the 'No shit Sherlock' look. Not that he could see it.
He tried to get to the wall but his chains pulled and he couldn't. He cursed multiple times and that is when I started slamming my chains against the wall hard and I saw sparks and Josh looked at me. I saw some sparks hit his hands seeing blood on his hand because he was trying to pull his hands free from the chains which caused his skin to rip open.
"You're hurt," I said concerned.
"Ignore me. Get the chains off." He said. I hesitated for a moment and then I continued slamming the chains on the wall feeling my own hands start bleeding because of them hitting the wall hard and the sparks with it. Finally, they made a creak noises and I saw them beginning to break. I felt the sharp part cut my wrist and I yelped a bit. Josh didn't move but he took a sharp intake of breath. I paused for a moment. I brought my hands up and then slammed them down onto the stone breaking them off and I felt the sharp metal cut my arms even further.
"Son of a bitch!" I yelled holding my wrists in pain. He made a grunting noise as he moved a bit.
"Help me get these off." He said monotone. I grabbed his wrists feeling the blood and I grabbed the edge of my shirt ripping the bottom of it off and he yelped not knowing what the noise was.
"What the hell did you just do?" He asked. I shrugged, then realized he couldn't see that I shrugged.
"I just ripped my shirt. You're bleeding." I said plainly. I moved my hands around his chains until I found the release button below his wrist so he couldn't get it. I pushed in the button and it released him. I grabbed his arms before he could move back and I wrapped his wrists up gently and he hissed a bit in pain.
"We need to get out of here and fast." He said quickly. I nodded and I put my hands on the ground and began quickly trying to grab the dirt and throw it behind me but not at Josh.
"Morgan. You're going to get your wounds infected." He said.
"It wouldn't be a first. Just help me dig Josh. I need to get us out of here." I said. I kept going until abruptly Josh grabbed me slamming me against the wall and I yelped. "What is with people slamming me into walls?" I groaned. His hands were on my shoulders gripping them tightly holding me against the wall.
"Let me dig. You can't get hurt. Not again. And definitely not on my watch." He said with a softer but stern tone. I looked at him shocked. He was being abnormally gentle. I stared at him a bit before slowly nodding and he let go of me and began digging the dirt.
He dug for a few minutes. I lost track of time. The only thing that I knew, was that we were down here for a long time. Josh was panting out of breath. I didn't know how long he was doing this for but I wanted him to stop. Even if that meant we got caught somehow.
"Josh. Stop, take a break." I said gently and I put my hand on his back feeling him soaked. He didn't stop. "Josh." I gently put my hand on his head and I felt a thick liquid on his head and he hissed a bit pausing.
"Move your hand." He said growling. I looked at him concerned and I gently grabbed his head with my other hand and I felt the injury.
"you're hurt. Josh, It's bleeding." I said. He grabbed my arms stopping me.
"That hurts. I told you to move." He said quietly. I let go of his head and he stopped for a moment and then he stopped digging taking a break and he sighed quietly.
"Are you hurt anywhere but your arms?" He asked. I focused a bit.
"I have a small headache but It's nothing," I said. Now it was his turn to grab my head and gently pull me downwards and he gently felt around my head.
"I don't feel any blood. A bump on your head here." He poked the spot a bit and I yelped. "but other than that you should be good."
"I don't matter. Josh, you do." I said and I looked at him and it was silent for a moment before he began digging again.
After at least 3 hours and silence, Josh finally spoke since he had already dug pretty far down.
"How far does this freaking wall go down!?" He yelled. Then I heard a clank as he kept going. "Found it." He began digging under it to try and get out and he finally managed to get under it when Light shone through and I saw him. His hair was a mess and his entire body was coated in mud. He kept going to hopefully make the hole big enough to get out of. I smiled like an absolute dork.
"You did it, Josh." I smiled. He reached his hand up and I gently grabbed his hand and he helped me down.
"Go through first." He said and I smiled gently as I carefully crawled through. I was greeted by the light and It was practically blinding at first. It took a bit to adjust but I did it. Josh grabbed my hand suddenly and we started sprinting. I saw the blood dried on his neck and on his wrists and I saw him give me nervous glances as we ran. I must have looked worse than I felt.
"Josh just keep going. Ignore me." I said. He nodded and kept going. What was going on with him? He seemed actually worried about me for once. Weird.
