"Is your father important?" I asked bluntly, he scoffed in response,
"he is the leader of 18th Street." my eyes widened in realization. Oli is the prince of the gang, just like Silvio. But Oli was nicer than him.. Could I trust him though?
"What's on your mind, love?" Jay asked,
"Silvio was the prince of his gang, just like Oli. but he wasn't a nice man." I stated, looking up at Oli in confusion, "why are you so nice?" I asked, "I was taken in by Derek, the leader when I was ten years old. I lived on the streets before then and was beaten up constantly by older kids." he said cheerfully. He was light-headed for sure. He lived on the streets too, he was a stray dog like me.
"I think he wants to take you in, too. But he has to discuss it with Jay first, with him being your owner." he explained, I just hummed back.
After a few minutes of chatter between Oli and Jay, a knock on the door had caused us all to jump from our seats, the boys led me to the entrance as an older man entered the house. He had dark brown hair and honey-colored eyes. He was wearing a fancy suit and a smirk was smeared across his face. He was a couple inches shorter than Oli.
"Oliver, how have you been doing?" he confronted Oli with a hug, Oliver? Is that his real name? I assumed it was plain Oli. "and Jay, how do you do?" he asked politely, "good, sir." Jay bowed his head in submission. And I did the same as his eyes fell on me, he was a man of power, and you could feel it off of him. "And what is your name, dear?" he ducked all the way down to my eye level, I turned my gaze to my feet. "Audrey, sir." I whispered. "Well, then. Nice to meet you, Audrey. My name is Derek." he offered his hand to me, and I shaked it politely.
"She is lovely, Jay." he commented, I scoffed quietly, feeling as if I was a monkey admired by passengers at the zoo. "How much did you pay for her?" he asked, "$350,000."
Shivers went down my spine at the way they spoke about me, as if I was an object. Which I was, and it saddened me. "I'm willing to pay you double for her." was all I could here before Oli led me into the bedroom and shut the door. "Stay here until they're done, and don't open the door. Okay?" he asked, I nodded as he walked back out there. I sat on the floor, my back against the wall while my thoughts took
over my head.
I am... an object. I don't matter at all, do I?
I'm just a pitiful, traumatized girl with a terrible luck. And now, I am not even my own person anymore.
Mr. Derek is going to buy me now, and he could do whatever he pleases with me.
He will probably lock me in a room and play with me like Master had done. He would ask me to cook for the gang, and would take out his anger on me.
Well, at least Jay benefits from the situation, after all, he will be paid 700,000 dollars for me.
He deserves it, after spending so long on trying to save me.
I sighed heavily, closing my eyes in frustration, I could hear the muffled voices of the three outside the room, I was able to recognize Oli's voice, he had sounded angry.
I could feel myself slowly falling into a world of no dreams when the door was slammed open, I jumped in surprise, looking up to find Jay gazing at me.
"Aud, what are you doing on the floor?" he chuckled, helping me get up.
"I fell asleep." I scratched my scalp in embarrassment, I could feel my cheeks warming up.
"Well, why not on the bed, then?" he asked cautiously, I could tell he wasn't sure if he wanted the answer, so I just raised my shoulders meaninglessly and he left the topic.
"So, I came to say bye to you." he smiled sadly, my eyebrows furrowed in confusion, "where are you heading?", "I have a mission I need to complete, I will be back in a couple of months. Meanwhile, you are Derek's now." he explained, playing with the paw of my hand while speaking.
"I'm not yours anymore, am I." it was more of a statement than a question, giving it was a rhetorical one.
"Don't worry, luv. Derek and Oliver will take good care of you, I promise, okay?" I just nodded, my head tilted downwards. He gave a kiss on the forehead and left the room, I could hear the front door shut when I realized he is gone.
And now, I had other matters to worry about, such as how my new owner is like, and how painful my future is going to be.
