The day I tried to live

It's been a month since Kai won the merge, Luke died and my brother came back, I started college and my mom helped me move into my dorm next to Elena and Caroline's. I agreed to help Caroline and Elena decorate for their friend Bonnie's birthday who is still stuck in Kai's prison Gemini Prison, I just wish there was something I could do but its tricky.

"Hey Elena, where do you want these Balloon's" I asked and I saw a boy maybe around my age "Uh hi." "Oh, Claire, this is my brother Jeremy." Elena introduced and he looked at me as he was lifting weights "Hey" he muttered and sighed. "It's Bonnie's Birthday" "I know what today is." Jeremy said and I pursed my lips "You know how she'd want us to spend it. She would have wanted us to celebrate by cooking her favorite food... watching her favorite movies." Elena said and I smiled.

"I think it's a good idea." "So we're throwing a birthday party where the guest of honor never shows up. That's not depressing." Jeremy said and I frowned "Or we could celebrate you going to art school. Oh, wait. We can't because I found your application in the garage." Elena said and I cleared my throat "I think that's my cue to leave. I'll just take these inside." I said then Elena handed me the bags and I took them inside to the kitchen. I walked through the door to the living room and I saw Stefan and Caroline "Hey guys!" "Hey, thanks for helping." Caroline said and I shrugged "Its fine. I kind of need a distraction from my mom, she's been helping moving into my dorm. You know what I'm just gonna start decorating." I said and they laughed.

I walked into the kitchen to get some tape, Caroline and Stefan went out to find Bonnie's old bear that Caroline buried; I saw Damon and Elena talking to Kai "What the hell is he doing here?" I asked and they turned to me and their eyes widened and Kai smiled. "Hey, Claire. I'm sorry for stabbing you, no hard feelings?" "No hard feelings? You killed Luke!" I yelled and Damon sighed "He's going to help us get Bonnie back." He explained and I frowned "How?" "With the ascendant of course." Damon said and handed the damaged ascendant to Kai and he examined it "Sad attempt at iron welding." "I tried to fix it." Elena said and I smirked. "I can't bring Bonnie back with this." "I thought you were the all-powerful leader of the Gemini coven now." I said and Kai sighed "I destroyed this so that it couldn't be used again." Kai told me and I gave him a sarcastic smile. Damon frowned and looked to Kai "Well, can we use that hunk of junk to send a message at least? It is her birthday." Damon said and Kai frowned "It is?" "Yeah. It's really sad. I mean, old Bon-Bon She's gonna be getting all dressed up for a party no one's even gonna show up to. I wonder if she even knows that it is her birthday, or do all the days just blend into one vast sea of misery? I wonder." Damon said and Kai sighed and looked at the ascendant again. "One of the crown wheels survived. That's a positive. Plus I am mega powerful." Kai said then looked at me and I rolled my eyes. "Yeah." "What do you want to say?" Kai asked Damon and he smirked "Well, I mean, if Bonnie needs magic to get out, we just need to tell her where to find some." He said and Kai nodded then looked at me "I'll do it, if you help me." Kai said turning to me and I frowned. I looked him then to Damon and Elena and I sighed "Okay, I'll do it but only for one condition. You leave town after this, no hurting my family, and you never look back." I said and he smiled "Done." He said and I sighed. "Alright, now what do I need to do." I said and he showed me how to fix the ascendant but Jeremy came in and he frowned "What is he doing here?" He asked us and Damon and Elena explained to him what the plan was.
