- Lucky's POV -
I felt very sleepy.
Maybe the long day really had an effect on me?
I moved my gaze from Spirit to stare at Javier---only to find out that he was staring at me too.
I asked him about what was happening or if there was something on my face.
"N-nothing Fortùna!" He smiled.
He was adorable for sure, and thtat very thought couldn't help me from letting out a small chuckle.
"Is there anything funny, Fortùna dear?" He asked, trying to fake a grumble.
"Nothing," I smiled.
"Let's move on, Spirit," I patted the mustang. "So Pru and Abigail won't notice that we're missing."
I was very glad that I had him by my side.
He neighed, showing that he understood.
And with that we galloped through the field.
"Wait for me Fortùna!" Javier shouted as Hacheta began to gallop.
Sagi snickered---only to chase us in a matter of seconds.
What a race.
Here we were, the City of Miradero!
It had started to get dark here.
"Woah!"
"Huh?"
I looked backward, only to find out that Javier had fallen from Hachetta.
"Javier!" I called as I approached him. "What happened to you?"
"Ugh," he groaned.
I could catch a glimpse of how Sagi was trying to holf back her laughter.
Well, I didn't say that she was wrong to laugh---but, it wasn't helpful.
At the very end, she approached us to offer a help.
Javier got back to Hacheta with the help of the two of us.
"You better be careful next time, hah!" Sagi snickered as she got back on Noches.
I stared at her sharply---and I guessed it was enought to keep her quiet for a while.
"Are you sure you are okay, Javier?" I asked.
He nodded, trying to smile.
But I knew he still felt the pain.
Were we even going to be able to dance?
Spirit stared at me, trying to ease my mind.
"Hey, I am fine, buddy," I patted his muzzle. "I just feel that Javier isn't fine at all."
'It is okay, I am sure that both of you can still have some fun!'
He neighed, and it calmed me down.
I smiled and hugged his neck, whispering a soft genuine thank you in his ear.
- Jim's POV -
I hummed, as I heard the galloping sound and teenagers laugh echoing not far away from my current location.
I moved my gaze to where the sound came from, only to find my beloved daughter with the two friendly cowboys---well one of them was a cowgirl, I supossed.
I had known both of the cowboys as Lucky's friends.
And yet, they had stayed together with my daughter in her room.
With separated beds, of course.
I was convinced that the boy wouldn't hurt my daughter---and I hope he didn't dissapoint me.
I needed to talk to him.
"Lucky!"
"Dad!" Lucky answered. "What's up dad?"
"Do you have a plan for tonight, dear?" I asked her.
"Not much, I guess."
"Can I talk to Javier for a few minutes?"
"S-sure."
I knew she was panick, because she cared for her friend, but I really needed to talk to him.
"Javier!" Lucky called the cowboy with a fake smile.
"What is it, Fortùna?" He approached, seemed to be worried.
She whispered something to him, and he approached me nervously.
"Y-yes , Mr. Prescott?"
"Let's talk together inside the house!" I held his hand softly. "Maybe we can let the girl have some private time."
He muttered an okay, stuttering nervously. Lucky and the cowgirl watched us as we went inside, however they didn't seem to be as nervous as he was.
"So, Javier?" I stated calmly. "What is your relationship with my daughter?"
He looked sweaty.
Despite trying to act calm, the nervousness in his expressions couldn't be hidden.
"Hey, don't be so tense," I smiled. "Where is that charming smile of yours?"
He stared at me, still looking tense---but he looked calmer.
"We are, uh, a really close, um, friends?" He chuckled.
I nodded, I figured out he would answer that.
"And how close is close?"
I could see the expressions in his face changed.
"W-well, um, we are close like, uh-"
"You like her, don't you?"
He raised his hand as if he was a criminal and a sherrif had pointed a gun with truth bullets right in front of his face.
"H-how do you know?!" He asked as if it wasn't obvious.
"It is actually pretty simple," I explained. "You always looks happier around her and it is the same for her too, am I wrong?"
He looked aside and chuckled nervously.
"And if you think I don't see the two of you kissed last new year party, you are wrong."
He furrowed his eyebrow in embarrassment.
"I-it was spontaneous!"
He seemed like a really caring a protective type, a perfect partner for my troublesome and adventurous Lucky.
"It is okay, young man," I laughed it off. "Only if you promise me one thing."
"What is it? I will give everything to simply be with Fortùna!"
Nice, cool, and will treat my daughter well . . .
"Don't you ever hurt my daughter."
"Mr. Prescott, I, Javier, promised that I won't dissapoint you.
Ready to handle everything and a good teacher---all and all a very perfect son-in-law.
"Good to hear, now make sure you won't make me regret a thing."
I smiled at him as he nodded.
He thanked at me formally, asking a permission to leave, and bid a farewell.
Very polite. . .
I waved at him, as he went back to Lucky and the cowgirl.
Lucky was very happy to see him again---all safe and sound from head to toe---and that their relationship wasn't in any real threat.
I smiled as I watched them galloped toward the town center.
I walked toward the room, preparing everything I needed for tonight's big event.
