"Move back, move back. Move forward. Make the biggest moves you can. Puff out your chest. Move back first. Dont use your chin to lead, use your neck to move" Zhang PD is teaching us some basic movements in dancing. In which I already know but I cant just skip this right?
The trainees are all lined up by rank so I am alone in the front. What a way to stand out.
"This is the most basic movement. This sort of practice trains your agility and also trains your perception towards the music. The first time I took this class, I moved my head for two hours" He said. Same. "Everything on my playlist today are songs that accompanied my growth during my trainee days. I hope that it can be of some help to our trainees who came here to learn some things"
Everyone then clapped for him then PD's eyes landed on me.
"You really stand out" He chuckled.
"Yes, I know." I said "I have been really lonely" I added.
"You have Mingming" Wenhan spoke so I kicked his leg since he's just behind me.
"Ah, Yao Mingming" PD said then gave me a teasing look. Ugh, everyone.
"Ayyeee" The C trainees teased Mingming
"She likes Li Zhenning!" Mingming said
"YAO MINGMING" I exclaimed.
"Alright, we'll talk about that later. Next, we'll continue to use this same song. We'll do something called Up Down" He said and demonstrated it for us. Ugh coming here I'm really learning from the basics
The trainees then followed whatever PD is doing including me since I have no choice.
"Minsheng, you look unhappy" PD chuckled. "I talked with the mentors earlier and they said that they just enter and leave since they have nothing to teach you" He said. The guys then ooo-ed in amusement "I believe that you have been doing these for years. You are a great dancer so I dont doubt"
"Pretty much" I said and chuckled.
"Just do it. You have no choice. Okay, next. The movement is simple" He said and demonstrated bouncing "You dont have to come all the way up"
The music then played and then everyone started bouncing. I internally groaned and did it anyways.
"When you're bouncing, listen to the music. Straighten your torso. Your back must be straight here"
Everyone kept on bouncing then he started pointing out those who are going higher and those that aren't straightening their torso
"Dont hunch your back like this. When you're extremely tired, give yourself 5 seconds to rest then continue to straighten"
We did that for like 5 minutes or more. I'm starting to pity the other trainees because they seem to be extremely tired. they were all mumbling and groaning.
"Minsheng are you alright?" PD asked. taking the fact that I'm a girl
"Perfectly fine. You should worry about the others" I said
"See? Minsheng is a prime example that if you get used to it, it wouldn't get tired quickly" PD said.
"Basic techniques, they actually exist in every single type of dance. If everyone can persevere and do these basic techniques well, you guys will dance very well in the future" He said "Then, let's have some students come up and share your practice for the theme song. Let's have each class send up a representative" He said
the trainees then discussed with their class while I just stood there.
"Whhyyyyy" I whined and they looked at me. I just groaned then they laughed.
The representatives then went up the stage including me since I'm the only one. Mingming was there too hehe. PD then told us to dance the theme song. Ugh, I'm really getting tired of that song already.
Before the first verse even started, PD jumped up the stage and told the staffs to stop the music.
"Did everyone see that starting from this movement, this rolling. that's the reflection of this basic technique, up down that you guys practiced earlier. We just didnt practice further " He said then he told us to dance that move again using the up down technique and everyone was impressed.
He then kept teaching moves from the dance and while he was doing those, everyone kept on being impressed.
"You are all impressed of my balance but have you guys seen Minsheng dancing?" He said
"Hey dont pass the baton to me " I laughed.
"Come on, do it" PD said. I just pouted and did the dance and everyone was like 'woah'
"PD and Minsheng are like twins" Guan Yue said
"Minghao is offended" PD laughed then high fived with me and they were like 'ooohh'
"Are there any more questions?" PD asked while we are making our way back to our line. I held on Mingming's wrist and he didnt even question. The trainees raised their hands to what PD said "Then all of you can sit down first"
Mingming sat on his place while I sat beside him. He then looked at me
"I dont want to be lonely" I said. He just smiled and nodded.
"Minsheng and Mingming are really cute" PD said. "like siblings" he added as he eyed Zhenning. I turned to Mingming and pinched his leg.
Damn you Mingming.
A trainee asked him about memorizing dance moves.
"From 2008 to now, It's been 10 years. I still couldn't memorise quickly" He said and then everyone chuckled. "You ask Minsheng over there. I dont know what kind of brain she has"
"Dont ask me, I dont know either" I said and they all continued laughing. "Wait, why are always passing the baton to me" I whined
"That's because I really admire your skills." He smiled.
Then another trainee asked about getting lost while training. He answered it but as expected, he passed the baton to me again.
"I'm going there" I said and stood up then I sat at the edge of the stage with him "I'm always lost. The feeling that I dont know what to do. That I just want to give up because the person that I am relying to isn't there anymore (Minghao) but at the same time, I want to be better and prove him that he made a mistake of making me go away" I said.
They already understood who I am talking about and I felt like they understood more of my story.
"Maybe you just haven't heard his part of the story?" Mingming asked
"We already talked about this" I glared. He just shrugged.
Trainees kept on asking him questions
"Are you all being journalists now?" He asked
"Yeah, this a press conference and I happen to be your secretary" I said. The trainees then all laugh. But then, he still answered all of them. Jia Yi raised his hand and asked him a question
"Then teacher, what is your dream" He asked. I gave him an impressed look then anticipated PD's answer
"This Jia Yi also feels like someone who makes trouble for the sake of it" PD said. We all then laughed
"What? We're curious" I said
"My dream is to stand on the Grammy Awards stage and perform as a Chinese person" He said and that made me stare at him impressed. PD is really my role model. I look up at him so much and I am actually really lucky that I appear to be this close to him. "Why are you looking at me like that? That wont do, Zhenning will be mad at me" PD said.
"Is it bad to look at you?" I asked "Lets be honest here, we all look up at PD, right? At this point, he has already become our role model" I said. The trainees agreed at what I said that made PD embarrassed
"And please stop pulling Zhenning into this. He doesnt like me" I said.
"But you like him" Mingming grinned.
"YAO MINGMING"
