"it's not your fault, will,"
his brother tried to convince
as he leaned his head against the cool window,
closing his useless eyes.
but to him,
it'd always be his fault.
he was supposed to protect her,
keep her safe from the
destruction
lurking in the shadows.
but she was her own destruction.
"that's just it,
it is my fault, gabe,"
he chuckled bitterly.
he thought back
to the time that the doctors had offered eye surgery.
and the way he disagreed profusely.
the way he'd said he just wanted to be normal.
the way he fell into a deep dark hole of
inexplicable anger.
the way the surgery would never be offered again.
"isn't it a shame that...
i couldn't even protect her
from herself?"
