Snow giggled as she facetimed Harley at the back of Footlocker, behind a shelf. She was on her break and because Josè wasn't answering her messages and calls she decided to check up on her best friend.
"...Are the boys fiiinnneee?!" Harley shrieks extra loudly.
Flinching, Snowlene lowers the volume on her phone." Chill, I don't need these people at work hearing our conversation."
Rolling her eyes,Harley waved her hand." Just answer the damn question."
Twisting her lips, Snowlene sports her famouse thinking face. It's officially the seventh of February, making it a month of spending her time in Chicago. It didn't take long for the word to get out that thee Nadia Gonzalez of New Naddy industry had been 'harbouring' her niece. The media were itching to get an interview with Snowlene but Nadia shut that idea down not wanting her niece to be exposed to even the slightest bit of fame.
"Well there's this cute boy at my work, his name is Antwon." Snowlene says, pronouncing Antwon's name with her thick accent.
Harley squeals." I heard Chicago boys have big-"
"Hey, hey, hey. No." Snow glares at her friend, adjusting her phone in her hand.
"...Big feet. You see you didn't let me finish my sentence you niña impaciente."
Rolling her eyes at that horrible cover up, Snow directs her eyes to the watch Nadia had gotten her, seeing her break was over.
"I got to go, but I'll text you later tonight."
"Alright buy honey. Mwah!" Harley blows a kiss and Snow pretends to catch it before chuckling and switching off her phone. Standing up she stretches before making her way to Antwon behind the register.
They have certainly gotten closer over the few weeks, there usual conversations over the phone went from regular hi and hey to more of asking about each other's day and getting smoothies together. Of course Snow never got strawberry.
"Hey I'm 'bout to go on my break, you want something?" Antwon asks licking his lips.
"Tacos, please." She defiantly missed her traditional hot and spicy Mexican food. The tacos and burritos they sold in Chicago could never compete to her mother's cooking.Sigh.How she missed her mother, the weekly phone calls from Gabriella were not enough to patch up the hole of emptiness in Snow's heart. Some days she wished to get the earliest flight back to Mexico just to be in her mother's arms again. But Nadia seems to be really trying so Snowlene could never do that even if it killed her.
"Aight got it." Antwon throws on his jacket before exiting out of Footlocker. Snow sits behind the counter, she has now learned to work the register so she was able to take some of Antwon's shifts when he wasn't here.
The bell chimes and a family walks into the store. Pursing her lips, Snow puts on one of the fakest smiles as they make there way towards her.

"...Yeah I'll be waiting by the parking lot, in front." Snowlene mumbled to her aunt over the phone.
"Okay, I'll be done with my meeting in 10 minutes. Think you can wait?"
Sighing, she looked around before nodding." Yeah I guess."
"Okay honey, see you later. Bye."
"Adiós..." hanging up, Snowlene tucked her phone into her pocket as she tightened the strings of her hoodie. She was waiting in the semi-full parking lot, watching the cars drive by and seeing how many blue ones she could count.
