Hello!

I've been suuuuper busy, so I'm sorry I haven't had the chance to update.

Liesel broke away from Rudy and stared at his face, taking in every detail. He had become stronger somehow, looking more like a man than she had imagined he would look. She smoothed her fingers over his ragged coat, reaching up to touch his cheek, running her finger along the skin and let out a small smile at his childish grin.

'Rudy!'

Images flooded her mind.

Himmel Street, Mama, Papa, Max, the snowman in the basement, the Standover Man...

Liesel closed her eyes, shuddering as she remembered the smell of smoke and blood, the feel of grime underneath her fingernails and in her hair. She leaned against Rudy, pressing her face into his neck and letting out a shaky breath at the memories.

'Come on, saukerl, wake up! I love you, don't you know I love you...'

She felt him press his chin against her head, hearing a soft thud as he dropped his suitcase and tightly wrapped his arms around her, like she was due to disappear at any moment. Liesel's hands found their way to rest on his chest, and the shock of him being there suddenly became too much and she let a tear run down her cheek and disappear on Rudy's collarbone.

Liesel never believed in miracles, but maybe just this once, she would classify this as just that.
