I went into deep thought about them, when I someday leave - what are they going to think of me? I know most certainly that Oggy will tag along, she loves walking anywhere where we haven't discovered yet.
"Yeah, I'm familiar with that". I carried her out of the barrow, and got her dressed into her clothes, then lastly did her hair up in two side ponytails.
We went into the house to keep warm, I ambled over to the wood-stove preparing the heat. Monnie kept huddled beside Brucy - our dog, and watched the flames rise in the wood-stove, her eyes glowed beaming. I sat beside her, and looked up to our parents walking through the front door.
"Mommy, daddy!". Monnie smiled, jumping off the sofa, and hugged them both.
"Morning girls, sorry we left we had to get a few things for tonight's supper". Mom smiled, placing the brown paper bag on the kitchen's wooden table, "give me a hand putting the things away, Monnie". She said relieving.
Dad cheerfully placed his hand on my shoulder, I looked up at him with a innocent stare.
"Come on August, go get dressed, we have lots to work on, I'll be out in front". He headed out of the front door, I wandered over to the backroom, getting dressed into brown denim slacks, a bulky brown & black plaid shirt that was once my father's, all the things my father once had, he passed it onto me - if your wondering, yes I wear his worn-out clothing now, same with my mother's.
Once I headed out of the front door, my father was already plowing the grass - hey, that's my job to plow! I tucked my braid into the back of my shirt, and ambled over to dad, taking over on the plowing. "That a girl, August!", he shouted as I struggled with the high lush grass. Furthermore, I used all my strength as I was far out in the field, I thrashed down in the high grass. There I laid still, my mind went calm, I was somewhere else in my thoughts.
The light diminished through the lush green grass, a pastel tone of baby blue, and a glow of yellow. Gazing at the grassy opening, it was beautiful. There's never a point for me to sit, and watch the sun glow above me, or the grass flowing with the slightest wind. It's always plowing, and underprivilaged. I got up from the ground, shook my head lagging, in my steady I was back to my unsuccessful existent.
"August?". Dad called from a nearby distance, he clutched onto the over sized plaid on my back, and dragged me over to the water hose. I was caught up in a daze, out of nowhere, dad sprayed my mug with crisp icy water, I gasped, "dad?!". I coughed harshly, taking a brief minute to sharpen my tone, and throat.
"August, you alright my girl?". He stated briefly, "you look white, did you eat?". He asked.
I nodded slightly, rubbing the back of my head feeling worthless to my father. He seated himself next to me, "you should head inside, I don't want you coming down with anything", he traced my black oil-soaked hair back behind my ear.
"No, I'll be alright dad, I always am". I smiled at him, "and you know it". I got up, roaming back over to the plower, and continued on my job. I noticed instantly that it was beginning to drizzle throughout.
