First blush of morning, I wandered off from the house over to Oggy's place furthermore in the town. To mention Oggy's house isn't that far from the country lines where I live, although it's quite a walk on feet.

I came to a stern hault, watched a buggy holding three European men, and a trailer behind. They paused, and looked at me, "wanderer eh, ole' times eh, and meh boys getting drunk, eh. get in missy cause we're going West, eh". The three men snickered to another scattering off down the dirt road toward West. I continued to walk alone down the road, passing through the alley, and climbed the steps of Oggy's front door. Who answered was Oggy's adoptive grandmother, Elizabeth Goner, "hello August", she flicked her green eyes at me.

"Hi Elizabeth, is uh Oggy here?". I asked nervously. Elizabeth holds grudges at my guts, she thinks I'm a disease to Oggy, and the bad influence. In the past, one winter me and Oggy were out in the snow behind the alley, as we went back to her house we were entirely soaked, as well as Oggy's flooring, and Elizabeth's preferred raccoon hat that her late husband had given to her a day before his death. When Elizabeth found us in the living area, I had the raccoon hat in my hands - only because I was attempting to put it back in it's right position. I've been kicked out of Oggy's since then, so I'm suggesting that's why Elizabeth's upset with me

Elizabeth called for Oggy to come over to the front door, my smile grew wider as I seen Oggy approaching behind her grandmother, she ducked under her arm, and jumped down the few steps, dragging me away, "c'mon August", we roamed down the road.

"You're grandmother's still upset with me, huh?". I grinned over at Oggy as she almost stumbled over rocks. "Eh, who-cares, that woman is soon breathless". Oggy sputtered as we walked through a food-stand, I looked at all of the great varieties that we could of had stored away in our homes. Grain bread, apples, oranges, carrots, pumpkins, and squash, my mouth was watering for it all, I bumped into Oggy. She took a quick glimpse around us, rapidly grabbed a loaf of bread, and sprinted off. I hurried off behind her, the trader couldn't keep up behind us, we were gone in a blank instant.

In the late evening, we took a load off our feet, and rested on the upper hill near the Southern of the town. I took several bites from the loaf bread, having a dense moment to swallow the food.

"Hey August, did you hear what happened in Japan?". Oggy questioned me as she kicked up her feet over a branched log. "No - what happened?". I asked, moving the crumbs off my clothing swiftly. "Well I overheard a few boys talking, they said something about a nuclear war, hey - do you still have some bread?". She glanced back at me. I handed her the loaf, "a nuclear war, what's that?". I thirsted for a drip of water to break down the wheat.

"I have no idea what that is, but they also said it's heading here...maybe in a few days, but I don't believe them, you know how those white foolish boys are?". She dug into the bread, chomping it down into her throat. I wondered to self; 'nuclear - isn't that a worldwide thing? And war - isn't that a fight between people from located areas?' I didn't bother too much about it, I'm sure that our town will be safe enough.
