"I'm following the familiar light the maze in the dream"

yet another pointless day at school. jisung sighs as he trudges into the math classroom, plopping into his seat. he looks over at his seat mate and best friend, chenle, eyes widening when he sees the neatly done equations in his notebook.

"we had homework?!"

he whisper-shouts, chenle snapping his head around to look at him.

"why am i not surprised?"

chenle sighs in exasperation, but the smile on his face gives away his annoyed act. he's used to jisung forgetting his homework, and honestly kinda likes helping him get it done.

"page 384 numbers 2-14. and yes, i'll help you."

chenle can't help but giggle when jisung snaps his mouth shut, his unasked question already answered. he looks sheepishly at chenle, a lopsided grin on his face.

"you're the best lele!"

chenle. the one person who had always been there for jisung, who stuck by him through everything. he had helped him through anxiety attacks, the boughts of depression when he couldn't even get out of bed. the fits of anger, the endless sobbing, the self-harm. all of it.

the one who had never treated jisung like he was broken, irreparable. the one who embraced and took care of him. the one who supported him through every obstacle the world threw at him. the only one who truly loved jisung.

as he helped jisung scribble out his homework before the teacher could walk around and collect it, chenle had a feeling that something wasn't right about him today.

he couldn't tell if his eyes were deceiving him or not, but jisung just seemed. off.

he'd seen him do this before, starting off with simple things, like not washing his face or wearing the same outfit twice. nothing that out of the ordinary for a stressed out uni student. but it always got progressively worse, eye-bags darkening, weight dropping until jisung just broke.

most of the time, it was an anxiety attack or a mental breakdown.

but once or twice, he'd tried commiting suicide.

and chenle had been there to save him.
