Frank's POV
My Dad gave me a slight nod before turning his back and walking back to the parking lot. The cold morning breeze made it's way through my jacket, sending cold shivers through my body. I was on my own now.
I made my way through the checking area and into the waiting bay. A few minutes into 3 am the announcement for the next flight came up through the speakerphone, instructing the passengers on flight to Amsterdam to head to the checking in department.
I stood up, slipping my phone into my pocket and and walked towards the checking in department. That's when I saw her. With her braided hair held in a loose barn, she was wearing a navy blue hoodie, black sweatpants and oldskool sneakers. A small white bag hung on her shoulder. Of course it could have just been any other girl, with my imagination playing me. But when she turned, I saw the necklace dangling on her neck. The 'T' firmly in it's place. It had to be her.
For a minute much longer she stared at a spot behind me, oblivious of my staring at her. Did I mention that she's exceptionally beautiful? Because she is. And at that moment I couldn't understand why I had let her walk away from me that day. I must have been high on something. Is this my second chance? Is this fate?
As we borded the airplane I quickly made up my mind to get a seat next to T. Yep, that's what I was going to call her for now , at least until she told me her name. I watched as she walked through to the back. Looking for a window seat? Probably. She finally settled for one in the second last row.
I let out a breath I hadn't realized I had been holding back. I started to walk towards her only to be hit in the stomach by a bag. Way to spoil my cool stance! Picking up the bag, I lifted it and placed it on the carrier. The old lady, whom I presume was the owner of the bag , noded a thank you. To my relief the seat next to T was still empty.
"You're not planning on listening to that the whole flight now are you?" I watched as she dropped the earphones before steading her eyes on me. For a fraction of second I saw familiarity swip across her face, before it was replaced by a blank unreadable expression.
"So, pretty face, what you been up to this 3 months?" Taking my seat beside her I angled myself to listen to her response, but what came was not what I was expecting.
"Excuse me, do I know from somewhere? I think you're mistaking me with someone else."
She had just given my ego a huge punch in the face. Not that my ego has a face, I mean the face would be my face, and in that case then then it had a face, okay you get what I mean!
I had to recover fast."Really Sweet?Ouch! I like to think that I'm unforgettable."
It hurt that she'd forgotten me,it hurt even more that I had spent so much of the past three months trying to find her,and she didn't even remember me!"Well, I guess we'll just have to start over, besides, you didn't quite give me a chance to tell you my name last time. I'm Frank." I stretched out my hand to her.
"Tea," she said, shaking my hand."Tea, as-in tea the beverage?" Her name amazed me just as much as her personality. For 5 hours we went on to talk about anything and everything. Who knew being seated and talking for that long could be as entertaining?
"What? Where'd you get that from?A beverage? Did you just make fun of my name?" She had a frown on her face and for a split second I thought I had crossed a line. Then she burst out laughing, her laugh was so loud and intoxicating,I ended up laughing too.
"How about you, what's Frank in full,ha? Frankenstein? Franklin?"
"Just Frank, my parents named me after my granddad. It's actually my middle name, my first name is James."
"That's amazing that you like to go by your granddad's name, keeps his memory alive,"she smiled at me and for a reason I couldn't quite place, I felt my heart skip a beat.
