Chapter 2: Dangers in the Valley

They had walked for quite some time, along the way they had encountered a few small monsters. Like poisonous snakes, scorpions and many other dangerous critters. Until, Zero managed to see something up ahead. Zero signals the girl to stay back, so he went to check it...

When he took a small peek at the thing from behind a large rock, he was surprised to find a large sized black wolf!!!

The wolf is so huge that it is almost the size of a large carriage. Zero cursed this dark pit!
Why does it have so many dangerous things living in it!

Zero hurriedly went back to the girl, "Okay, I know you might not understand...but, I need you, seriously need you to stay put. Okay? Stay.Put!" He whispered,

The girl of course did not respond and just look at him, Zero took it as she understand. But he gestured once again for her to stay put and force her to sit down, before he went back toward the large rock.

He takes out his blade from his waist, luckily he still has one...

Zero slowly creep towards the black wolf, careful not to wake it up. He'll need to finish it in one blow.

Finally, he managed to arrive right next to the wolf....

He'll need to reach the wolf's head, that is where it's mostly vulnerable...he thinks...

Zero leaps slowly behind the wolf's head, luckily it is still asleep...then he raises his blade up high to get as much a lot of force to stab the wolf's head.

Finally, the blade drops down and it stabs into the wolf's head,

Is what he thought...

The body of the wolf suddenly dissipates into fog...
"What!?" Zero was shocked, then he suddenly sensed something behind him...

Before he could turn to look, he had already been swept away towards the wall. His body smashed into the wall, causing him to vomit out blood.
"Damn...it was...an illusion...?!" Zero cursed,

Zero quickly recovers from the hit, and he rushes towards the wolf with his blade.
"HAAAAA! YAAAAAA!" Zero kept on swinging his blade towards the wolf as he dodges the wolf's attack,

Sadly, his attacks weren't that effective toward the wolf. He even had imbued some magic into his blade, but it still couldn't hit or scratch the damn monster. The monster suddenly swings its tail and Zero was unable to act in time, and he was once again smashed into the wall once again,

"Agh! Damn...it...!" Zero cursed again,
He had used almost all of his magic, but this guy seems to have just been playing with him!

Then, the wolf suddenly bite down onto Zero's body!
"AGHHHHHHHH!" Zero screamed from the pain, it's fangs have buried themselves deep into his body.

Just when the wolf thought he successfully captured its prey, he felt something poking on his leg. It turns to look down, and finds another human punching his leg with its small fist.

"I-Idiot...! Stop...!" Zero weakly said,
The girl had rushed towards the wolf when she saw Zero had been bit by the wolf. Without fearing for her small life, she had went to try and beat the wolf. She kept on hitting the wolf with her small fists with tears in her eyes.

The wolf seems to be smirking as it looks down on the girl, just when it raises its large paw to crush the girl. Zero shouted in pain again when it buried it fangs deeper, this scream causes the girl to cry out as well.

This cry seems to have caused the crystal in her hand to shine brighter, and when it did, the girl unconsciously pins it into the wolf's leg. It wails in pain when the crystal is stuck into its flesh.
