"Don!" I shouted, pushing my way to him.
The girls had met them half way when I called out his name. Don and Glenn stopped and turned around.
It was an immediate thought, but I had to do it, no matter the consequences. My head was racing and my face was red with anxiety. Once I was close enough, I threw my arms around his neck and shoved my lips to his.
Desperate, yes, but it felt so right.
I was almost crying. I poured everything I had into that kiss. Every bottled up emotion, every thought. Just something for us both to remember each other goodbye.
I felt a hand gab my shoulder and jerk me away from Don. And I knew exactly who it was.
"No!" I screamed, fighting James off me.
"Christy-"
"Stop!"
"Christine-"
I thrashed out of his grip, but was soon pulled back into him. We fought and screamed at each other with Don, Linda, Glenn, John David, Jackson, and a few other random people getting into it.
I was eventually pried from his grip, flushed and crying as Glenn pulled my into his chest.
"Go home!" I screamed. "Just get the hell away from me, I don't care!"
The one time we actually succeed in not attempting to kill each other and he blows it.
The entire bar was silent, staring at James who looked around. Fuming, he stormed off to the back and slammed a door as he exited.
I cried silently into Glenn's chest. He put a hand at my neck and I nuzzled further into him. Linda and Jackson were rubbing my back and whispering soothing words like he was. I gasped for air and shook my head, trying to deny that I had a part in starting the fight.
"Christy..." Don breathed, gently putting a hand on my shoulder.
My hair was sticking to my face and the part of Glenn's chest that wasn't covered by his now soaked shirt. I slowly pulled away from Glenn and walked into Don's arms.
"I'm sorry..." He whispered, moving my hair out of my face. I forced a small laugh at his petty sympathy and squezed my eyes shut.
The girls Glenn met had run away in the commotion, so now I felt I had accomplished something by kissing him.
"Henley, why don't you take her home?" The bartender suggested.
Don removed his cheek from the top of my head and whispered, "Would you go now?"
I hesitated, sniffing a little, but finally nodding into his chest.
"Okay..." He sighed and moved his arm to be around my shoulders.
"I'll come with you." Linda said, running ahead of us to the door.

I had calmed down a lot when we pulled into the parking lot of Don's apartment complex. He and Glenn shared an apartment since John David, or J.D., had moved out and got his own place.
"I don't think Glenn's comin' home tonight." Linda laughed, closing the front door behind her.
Her optimistic mood was making me smile. I was glad she came with us because I probably would have still been crying.
It was a small apartment that had two beds on opposite sides of the room from each other. Little things like plyers, guitar picks, drumsticks, and clothes (among other things) were laying all over the floor.
