Why us?

I remember

I'm seriously losing track of time in this place, i thought that it was only about two weeks since I got here but when I asked my nurse Mrs. Attingham, she said that it has been a year already. I have started to grow a beard since then and it's now one of the more important things that I'm thinking about. It's weird that this place is starting to feel like home now more then even my childhood house. I have made a friend here, his name is Kevin, he apparently has been here since last friday, roughly 9 days ago.

Me and Kevin are roomates, but he does get annoying sometimes, all he thinks about is getting out of this place, but why would he? This place is great, at least I get to steal some of his food every now and again when he is drastically looking around the room, he always gets hotdogs but hey, beggars can't be choosers now can they. "Hey look at that" Kevin says while pointing at an overpass "do ya reckon any guards patrol there?" "Doctors" I correct him. "Right doctors" He says with a frown. "And no the doctors stay down here" I say. "Isn't there a bathroom up there?" He asks. "Yeah why?" I ask, "Cause the 'Doctors' don't follow you to the bathroom" He replies "Why would they?" I ask. "So you don't get out obviously" He says with a laugh. "Oh..." I say

"Look you can't tell me that you don't want to get out do you?" Kevin whispers in my direction. "No, not really" I reply, "This place is nice". "Yeah I guess you wouldn't want to leave after what you did huh?" he says, his voice sounding distant. "What are you talking about?" I ask aggressively. "Something tells me that you know what I mean" he says with a look of concern. "No seriously what are you talking about?" I say, starting to shake. "C'mon really? You kidnapped your adopted sister and took her back to her burnt down orphanage just to pretend she was your wife, and every time she tried to escape, you dragged her back inside. You guys were missing for 3 weeks!!" He yells and the doctors nearby start to look in our direction.

Just then my vision got blurry and I felt myself hit the floor, "Oh shit, Mars are you okay?" and some footsteps is all I here before my vision goes black. I'm back at my house the day before me and Venus left. I'm drinking a whole bunch of hard liquor and am obviously drunk as I see myself in the bathroom mirror, eyes red, tears on my face, gun in one hand, and bottle in the other.

I hear pounding at the door and my mom walks in and yanks the gun from my hand, "Mars what are you doing!!" she yells and is already crying. "N-nothing mama" I say and look away from her face, "I'm just tired". I get up and go into my room locking the door behind me as mom is still crying in the bathroom. The scene goes black as I wake up the next day, a key is shoved into the keyhole on the other side and the door opens to reveal my mom with tears still in her eyes. "Hey Mars I'm heading off to work, Venus is going to watch you okay? I know you're probably tired but here is your chore for today, you can do it tomorrow if you want." "Huh?" I reply. "I mean or just not I'll get your sister to do it" "NO wait mama I'll do it" I say "Are you sure?" She answers "It's ok" I say, she nods, gives me a slip of paper, a kiss on my check and a loving smile before she pulls away. "There are some people here to see you" she say as if to alert someone down stairs. "Ok" I start "who are they?" "Just be good for them", My body tenses up at her words. "Ok" I say and we both start down the stairs.

  I see two men at the door wearing black suits and am surprised to see them here, I've never seen them before. My mom leaves the house and the men walk in, closing the door behind them, Venus is in the kitchen making breakfast, I decide to help, one of the men come over to me and shakes my hand, "Hello, we will only be here to observe, so carry your day on as normal." "Ok" I say. After breakfast was finished, Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Pancakes, and Orange Juice, I asked if the men wanted some to which they replied "No thank you".

  I sit down and eat next to Venus, my little sister comes out of her room and sits across the table from us, her eyes still half closed. One of the Men's phone rings and they both leave the room with a quick "Give is 15 Minutes"

  Some voice inside my head said "They are here to hurt your family ". I immediately knew what to do, I grabbed some rope and, with some struggle, managed to tie up Venus, my little sister Luanne ran from me and into the room with the men. "She's gone" said the voice "leave her". And so I did.

  I run out of the door with Venus in my arms, she's really heavy while she's moving around. I open up my car door and drive, I don't know where I'm going yet but I need to leave, I need to protect Venus. My sight fills with the open road and eventually the old orphanage, it's burnt wood and cracked sidewalk still visible in the night air. My tires scream as I run up the driveway, I put the car in park and take Venus out of the back seat, pull her into the orphanage and in her old room. Why is she screaming so much? She should be thankful...

  My eyes fill with white light and when I can see again I am in the infirmary and Kevin is beside me reading a book, or at least it looked like it until my eyes focused and I realized that it was my hospital report. He noticed that I was awake and he turn towards me. "Did you know that you have been diagnosed with 'Drastic Psychosis'?" He says, "What?"
